Four reputed Bronx gang members accused in the slayings of two teenagers were among 13 indicted Thursday in connection with a string of summertime crimes that terrorized the borough.
Jahill Califf, 16, and Justin Baez, 18, were indicted on murder and manslaughter charges for allegedly gunning down 13-year-old Jaryan Elliott on July 11 on East 187th Street.
Two others, Alec McFarlane and Tyquan Howard, both 16, were also charged with murder and manslaughter in the shooting death of 16-year-old Ramon Gil-Medrano just hours after Elliott died.
Investigators said the violence is tied to two warring street gangs — the 800 YGs based in Belmont and Norwood-based Thirdside.
“The bullets are flying in communities of color,” Bronx DA Darcel Clark said at a press conference. “Our young people have no problems getting a gun in their hand, and our kids are killing and shooting each other.

“Where is the outrage? Where are the marches and protests about losing a generation of young people?” she said. “These kids must be held accountable if they carry a loaded gun. It cannot be treated like a petty, nonviolent crime because it’s not.”
The other defendants were hit with a variety of charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, robbery, grand larceny and weapons possession.

The crime spree began with a carjacking on May 24 and ended with an armed robbery on July 23, and included a July 12 shooting of two 19-year-old gang members.

“This is yet another case illustrating the endless stream of guns in our city and their devastating impact on victims,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a statement.
“Each gun seized tells the story of kids and others gunned down in the street, of mothers and loved ones mourning, and of neighborhoods traumatized.”
