The woman told NBC 4's Erin Tate that she was surprised to find out the age of the person who allegedly assaulted her and demanded her purse.
The woman later found out that the gun was fake, but a few days ago, police said, her suspected attacker -- Darnell Vinson -- somehow got a real firearm and ended up shooting a friend in the chest.
Vinson's friend was taken to Children's Hospital, where he is recovering.
Vinson is now in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
His alleged robbery victim said the shooting may have been prevented if a judge had given Vinson more than house arrest after the attempted mugging.
Vinson is scheduled to go to trial next week for aggravated robbery.
While the Franklin County prosecutor said the number of children charged with violent offenses has increased substantially in recent years, Vinson is the youngest juvenile facing such a serious crime that police detectives said they remember. This one just reeks of TNB
