KEY TAKEAWAYS

Individuals have been censored by these digital payment and financial service companies not because of what they say on these platforms, but because of who they are.
The direction in which these tech companies are headed necessitates alternative digital payment services that will not deplatform users for their political views.
It is crucial that innovations and free market alternatives, such as Bongino’s AlignPay, are amplified and that innovations such as this continue to be created.

When White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that people who spread “misinformation” “shouldn’t be banned from one platform and not others,” she revealed the left’s chilling plan for censoring content that goes against the left’s narrative.
It is becoming increasingly clear that political leaders on the left and Big Tech are joining arms to not just deplatform dissident voices from social media, but to bar them from the digital space entirely, including from having the ability to make and receive payments online.
In the latest example, Chase Bank reportedly planned to close the credit card account of former national security adviser Michael Flynn on Sept. 18, stating that “continuing the relationship creates possible reputational risk to our company.” While as of Aug. 31, a Chase spokesperson said that they had “made an error and apologized for any inconvenience caused,” the initial gesture can’t be ignored.
This comes just a couple months after Wells Fargo made the “business decision” to close 2020 Republican Delaware Senate candidate Lauren Witzke’s account. Two of the more prominent digital payment services, PayPal and Stripe, have also become active cancel culture participants.
PayPal has admitted to closing accounts flagged by the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2019, now, PayPal has announced a partnership with the left-leaning Anti-Defamation League to focus on “further uncovering and disrupting the financial pipelines that support extremist and hate movements.”
In their joint statement, neither PaylPal nor the Anti-Defamation League explicitly define what they mean by extremist and hate movements, but it would be naïve to think that mainstream conservatives will escape the crosshairs of this new partnership.
Following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Stripe stopped payment processing services for the Trump campaign’s website and online fundraising efforts, as well as for individuals who had been present at the protest-turned-riot.
Conservative organizations and individuals have been censored by these digital payment and financial service companies not because of what they say on these platforms, but because of who they are. These woke institutions are replacing financial credit with social credit.
In a tweet from July, author and business owner J.D. Vance states, “The next stage of deplatforming will be denying people access to the financial system. Second Amendment will mean little if Visa won’t let you buy ammunition.”
Vance is making an important point: If a person has the “wrong viewpoint,” the left will be coming for “your speech, your wallet, your ability to be a citizen in a digital environment.”
It hasn’t only been conservatives that have been censored, shadow banned, and suspended from online platforms. Certain content by any user that opposes or questions the left has been stifled, regardless of political or ideological view. Facebook and Twitter have especially taken part in this cancel culture behavior, most notably by kicking off former President Donald Trump.
The direction in which these tech companies are headed necessitates alternative digital payment services that will not deplatform users for their political views. Fortunately, conservative commentator Dan Bongino has stepped up to address this issue in the digital payment space.
Bongino recently announced the creation of AlignPay, a new platform that pledges to process the digital payments of organizations, regardless of their political beliefs. The launch of AlignPay highlights an important point: One of the most effective ways for conservatives to counter censorship is to develop, support, and promote alternative platforms, thereby providing users with greater choice.
Bongino openly admits that the creation of his newest anti-cancel culture payment process platform is in direct opposition to Stripe and PayPal after their cancelation of organizations and individuals. It is initiatives like Bongino’s that will address gaps in the technology marketplace for those who are not satisfied with their current options—choices that cancel users not only for what they say on the platform, but for what they say and believe off the platform.
AlignPay’s website states that the platform is “built for freedom,” and will be free from “cancel culture,” as it specializes in processing debit, credit, and other forms of mobile transactions. It also aims to provide its services at lower costs than competitors.
AlignPay also will prioritize user security and privacy by fully encrypting all transactions and not selling or monetizing users’ personal data. The platform’s services will be available to political campaigns, nonprofits, e-commerce sites, businesses, activist groups on both the left and right, and any organization, as long as they are not engaged in unlawful or criminal activity.
Other conservatives have also taken initiative to counter Big Tech censorship by developing alternative platforms. Locals was created by conservative commentator Dave Rubin to allow content creators to run their own subscription-based pages and communities.
RightForge was developed in part as a response to the deplatforming of Parler by Amazon Web Services, Apple, and Google to provide a range of IT services free from censorship and interference, including cloud and website hosting, website and application development, among others.
The digital platform GETTR is another recently created free speech alternative that was launched on Independence Day by former Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller.
These are just a few examples of companies that have responded to tech censorship, which ultimately poses a threat to the health of our democracy. As the French statesman Alexis de Tocqueville once noted:
Tyranny in democratic republics does not proceed in the same way, however. It ignores the body and goes straight for the soul. The master no longer says: You will think as I do or die. He says: You are free not to think as I do. You may keep your life, your property, and everything else. But from this day forth you shall be as a stranger among us.
To help restore balance between tech companies, their users, and the body politic, it is crucial that innovations and free market alternatives, such as Bongino’s AlignPay, are amplified and that innovations such as this continue to be created.

Organized Campaign Forces Shutdown of Institute’s Credit Card Processing

News from Institute for Historical Review
September 2017

On August 21 the company that had been processing credit card orders and donations for the Institute for Historical Review (IHR) abruptly shut its account with the California-based educational and publishing center, claiming that it distributes “materials promoting hate.” The TransFirst/ TSYS company cancelled its business relationship with IHR two days after ProPublica, an outfit headquartered in New York City, announced its campaign to get tech companies to stop doing business with the IHR and other alleged “hate groups.”

After nearly two years without problems or complaints, TransFirst/ TSYS informed IHR in an August 21 letter that it was halting credit card processing for IHR, effective immediately. The reason given was: “The review of your website www.ihr.org revealed that your business is excluded per our credit policy, materials promoting hate, etc.”

David Cole, a southern California author and columnist, looked into the ProPublica campaign. He reported on his investigation in a Taki’s Magazine column . “... Regarding what happened to the IHR,’ wrote Cole, “what we have is a faux-journalism institute [ProPublica] funded by left-wing billionaires deciding to engage in 21st-century book-burning by putting a publishing company [IHR] out of business ... ProPublica is run by a charlatan who exemplifies everything that’s bad about his supposed profession. It’s a foul enterprise run by foul people. A `journalistic institution’ funded by Democrat billionaires tried to shutter a publishing house (one that even some of its harshest critics agree is beneficial).”

Immediately after receiving the August 21 letter from TransFirst, IHR director Mark Weber phoned the company to learn precisely what “materials promoting hate” prompted its decision. A TransFirst representative was unable or unwilling to cite any example of such materials. Weber followed up with a letter asking TransFirst to let him know of specific materials or items being distributed by IHR that it believed are “promoting hate,” so that they could be evaluated for possible removal. (The full text of Weber’s letter is given below.)

ProPublica’s campaign is similar to the well-publicized effort four years ago by New York politician Dov Hikind, a zealous Zionist with a record of bigotry and support for terrorism, that succeeded in shutting down IHR credit card processing for several months.

ProPublica acknowledges that it has no standard of its own for the “hate” label it applies to others. It says that it relies on lists compiled by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an influential Zionist organization, and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a wealthy, influential group with a controversial record of leftist bias.

Self-appointed “watchdog” organizations such as the SPLC and ADL, provide no objective standard for their malicious labelling. They routinely overlook or approve of groups and websites that support policies of discrimination based on ancestry or religion if they are Zionist. ProPublica has no criticism of groups -- such as the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the Anti-Defamation League, and the Simon Wiesenthal Center -- that routinely defend Israeli policies of discrimination and oppression based on ancestry or heritage. Israel’s well-documented record of discriminatory policies based on ethnicity or religion have earned worldwide condemnation, reflected in many United Nations resolutions approved with overwhelming majorities.

The IHR is an independent educational research and publishing center based in southern California that works to promote peace, understanding and justice through greater public awareness of the past. For more than 20 years it has been recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) public interest, educational, not–for-profit enterprise.

Over the years the IHR has often come under fire from hostile sectarian groups that regard it as harmful to their interests. The Institute has repeatedly been a victim of bigotry and extremist violence. In 1984, for example, Jewish Defense League activists carried out a criminal arson attack against the Institute’s offices.

Dear Mr. Boeding,
This is a response to your letter of August 21, sent by FedEx, which we received on August 23. This letter informs us that, effective August 21, TransFirst/ TSYS is no longer processing our credit card transactions, and is closing our merchant account.
The reason given is: “The review of your website www.ihr.org revealed that your business is excluded per our credit policy, materials promoting hate, etc.”
We emphatically reject the allegation that the Institute for Historical Review distributes “materials promoting hate.”
Immediately after receiving your letter, I phoned TransFirst to speak with you. I was told that you were not available. Instead, I spoke with another staff member who was unable to provide any information about the specific criteria, if any, that was the basis for the decision to close our account.
Institute for Historical (IHR) is an entity of “Legion for the Survival of Freedom,” a corporation founded in 1952 and controlled by a responsible board of directors. For more than 20 years IHR/ LSF has been recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) public interest, educational, not-for-profit enterprise. Donations to the IHR are tax-deductible.
Our “Mission and Record” webpage specifically affirms: “In fact, the IHR steadfastly opposes bigotry of all kinds. We are proud of the support we have earned from people of the most diverse political views, and racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds.”
Some very influential groups and individuals that dislike our work smear the IHR as a “hate group.” Predictably, they provide no objective standard for their malicious labelling.
Far from promoting “hate,” the IHR has been a target of authentic hate groups. For example, it has come under repeated assault from the Jewish Defense League -- identified as a terrorist group by the FBI. On July 4, 1984, the JDL destroyed the Institute's office and warehouse in a major arson attack.
We do not knowingly distribute “materials promoting hate.” Please therefore let us know of specific materials or items on the IHR website that, in your view, are “promoting hate,” so that we can evaluate them for possible removal.
If you are not able or willing to identify specific materials or items on the IHR website that, on the basis of an objective standard, are “promoting hate,” any reasonable, open-minded person will conclude that your allegation is subjective, and therefore is itself an expression of bigotry.
Sincerely,
Mark Weber

Liberal Journalists Circle Wagons As ‘Twitter Files’ Expose ‘Decade’s Biggest Media Scandal’

Within hours of the publication of a historic Twitter thread, mainstream media reporters descended on the social media site en masse to claim the exposé was a “nothing burger.”

Some mainstream media reporters reacted with scorn to the explosive revelations showing Democrat-friendly Twitter employees privately doubted the Hunter Biden laptop files were “hacked” when that excuse was used to justify censoring the New York Post’s article just weeks before the 2020 election, which now-President Joe Biden won.

While much of the social media ecosystem was shocked and outraged by last night’s publication of the so-called “Twitter Files”—revealing high-level collusion between Big Tech, US intelligence, and the Democratic Party—one group in particular was less than impressed: liberal-leaning journalists.

Within hours of the publication of a historic Twitter thread, mainstream media reporters descended on the social media site en masse to claim the exposé was a “nothing burger.” They accused its author, 52-year-old contributing editor for Rolling Stone and journalist Matt Taibbi, of being a lackey of Twitter owner Elon Musk.

“Imagine throwing it all away to do PR work for the richest person in the world,” read one tweet by Ben Collins, a senior reporter for NBC News, who went on to insist publishing the explosive investigation was “humiliating s***.”

Imagine throwing it all away to do PR work for the richest person in the world. Humiliating shit.
— Ben Collins (@oneunderscore__) December 2, 2022

Just a few hours later, MSNBC’s Mehdi Hassan published a nearly-identical tweet: “Imagine volunteering to do online PR work for the world’s richest man on a Friday night, in service of nakedly and cynically right-wing narratives, and then pretending you’re speaking truth to power.”

Others insisted that the files somehow proved that there’s “no evidence” to support the “big claim” that “the government had directly intervened to suppress a story before the election.”

Okay then. That’s the big story.

Taibbi says, seemingly with access to all internal docs, the earlier big claim that the government had directly intervened (“stepping in”) to suppress a story before the election has no evidence.

According to acclaimed journalist Glenn Greenwald, all these critics were missing the point completely, and suggested that they may be doing so on purpose.

“These liberal media employees operate as a hive mind, an in-group pack, reciting the same phrases on cue,” Greenwald wrote in an popular Twitter thread debunking popular liberal reactions to the revelations, noting “they have no novel thoughts. They’re Democratic Party activists who unite as pack animals.”

“You have to be either extremely stupid or extremely dishonest to think Taibbi was saying he found no evidence of US political officials involved,” Greenwald continues. “In fact, the tweet they’re pointing to — to claim @ElonMusk lied by saying Dem officials were involved — says the opposite.”

In reality, the files demonstrate that “Twitter lied when saying they censored this story because the docs were hacked by Russia,” Taibbi concludes, explaining that Twitter higher-ups “know there was no evidence of this!”

Training his fire on the critics responsible for the “personal attacks” on Taibbi, Greenwald opined that “watching little obedient dweebs at NBC, CNN and the Daily Beast claim *Matt Taibbi* is a servant to power is the most brazen case of projection I’ve ever seen..”

Whereas “Taibbi spent his career and still does exposing Wall St and CIA’s lies,” i.e. Russiagate,” establishment reporters “are their loyal mouthpieces,” Greenwald claims.

According to the highly-acclaimed journalist who helped publish explosive documents revealed by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, these reactions are indicative of a broader pathology afflicting establishment journalists:

“Not one media outlet that spread this CIA lie – that everyone knows is a lie – has admitted that they did this or explained what happened. That’s because they lied on purpose,” Greenwald says. “And that’s why these media employees are so enraged at Taibbi: they hate being reminded of their fraud.”

Indeed, “at this point, the real story long ago ceased being about the contents of the Biden archive itself,” Greenwald concludes. “The real story is how the CIA, corporate media and Big Tech all united to spread a CIA lie and manipulate the 2020 election by using it to censor reporting about Joe Biden.”

Last point: reducing NY Post's reporting to Hunter Biden's sex life and drug use is pitiful.

I've always said that's irrelevant. The stories were about *Joe Biden's* sleazy business dealings in Ukraine and China.

If the archive was trivial, why did they all lie to censor it? pic.twitter.com/0GktdMXLdC
