When I went to my first Renaissance festival I was expecting a decrepit parking lot with a bunch of weird people dressed funny. But I went with a group of my racialist friends. Instead of a just a parking lot, the site turned out to be a beautiful place with large shady trees, well manicured lawns and all sorts of entertainers and shops. We all had a great time.
But I am not here to plug for the Fair, they have their own advertising campaign and they might not even appreciate my report here. One of my friends made the comment that "Here were white people being white people". It sounded simple or obvious at first but he went on to explain that all the people there were celebrating European culture and history.
This was a White event if there ever was one. There were only a few non whites there to mar the scene. There was no booming rap noise coming from cars passing by, the place was outside of town and surrounded by a high wooden fence. There were no Mexicans glaring at decent people passing by, there were no screeching blacks blocking entry ways or standing at corners being a menace and an eyesore.
There was little gutter Spanish or ebonics to be heard. You could hear performers playing acoustic instruments and singing without amplification. It was wonderful being away from all the loud, obnoxious, smelly non whites. It was a little vacation from diversity.
The grounds were immaculately neat and clean despite thousands of people eating and drinking from paper plates and cups. When I mentioned how clean it was, my friends wife said that there was a Mexican going around picking up trash.
While this was true, it was not the real reason. The real reason that the fairground was so neat and clean was that there were no Mexicans there throwing their beer bottles and dirty diapers all over the place.
There were no blacks there either tossing their fast food garbage and empty malt liquor bottles around. But the thing that struck me most was the fact that there were at least a thousand people walking around wearing swords, daggers, and battle axes, yet no one was murdered or hurt.
There were no fights except for the ones staged for entertainment. No one caused any trouble despite being armed to the teeth. Imagine if a thousand blacks were gathered together with spears and knives, it would be a bloodbath, wouldn't it?
About half the people at the fair were in historic costumes and they were able to walk around freely without crazy looks or hostile remarks. It was a level of social relaxation I had never experienced before. Adults were able to 'play' without being ridiculed, and they weren't playing basketball, they were playing Europe!
