Assistant District Attorney Becky Johnson asked Holmes to hand down the life term because of the “viciousness” of the shooting.

She said a presentence investigation report indicates that Gleason still hasn’t accepted responsibility for his actions.
Gleason did not make a statement before being sentenced, and Holmes did not hear any victim impact statements from Brooker’s family in open court.

Jurors found Watani Phinnes Gleason, 32, guilty in the shooting of 27-year-old Nathan Brooker of Tulsa, who died from his injuries the next day.

Gleason was accused of shooting Brooker multiple times on Feb. 6, 2016, outside of Momma T’s Big Easy Lounge at 6533 S. Peoria Ave. after Brooker and another man began arguing in the parking lot.

Police said Gleason intervened and began to fight Brooker, which culminated in Brooker’s being shot as he tried to leave the area.

District Judge Sharon Holmes upheld the jury’s sentencing recommendation and ordered Gleason to spend life in prison. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections calculates a life sentence as equivalent to 45 years, and a defendant sentenced to life must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole

The rise of antiwhiteism in America is beyond disturbing. Most White people didn't want to say anything about it for years out of fear of being called a "racist" but it's so bad now they can't help but show their concerns. Stop using the word "racist" to describe anti-white hate, and use antiwhiteism. Words matter. The word "racist" makes people think of White people who hate black people. Like racism is a one way street. Best to use a unique word to describe the hate against White people.
