FULTON COUNTY, Ga.
– A second Fulton County Jail inmate has been found deceased at the facility within a week. Louisiana man Travis Landrey was discovered in his cell on the morning of Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Officials performed life-saving measures on Landrey, but to no avail [THANK GOD]. He was pronounced deceased(y), and preliminary investigative efforts indicated the cause of death was suicide.

Authorities arrested Landrey in October 2022 regarding a carjacking and murder in Buckhead. The victim, 57-year-old Christopher Eberhart of Gainesville, worked as a framer and was awaiting the start of construction at a site.
Eberhart was discovered deceased from gunshot wounds on October 13 in a vacant lot’s driveway in an affluent Buckhead neighborhood.

Law enforcement apprehended Landrey after he fled to Alabama. He was transported to the Fulton County Jail in November 2023 and charged with hijacking a motor vehicle, murder, felony murder, and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Eberhart’s death occurred less than a week after an inmate, 37-year-old Leonard Fortner, was discovered in the jail, deceased from stab wounds.
In a news conference, Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat stated, “The Fulton County Jail is in crisis, and it has been for decades.”
A preliminary investigation determined Landrey’s death to have been a suicide.
