A man who was acquitted of a murder charge in an Athens trial in 2021 has been charged again with murder, but this time in Jefferson where he is accused of killing a teenager last month.
Jefferson police announced Thursday they have charged 27-year-old Willie Tremaine Nickholas Evans with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Evans is charged in the slaying of Joshua Wick, 19, whose body was found Jan. 20 lying on Holders Siding Road.
Jefferson police Chief Joe Wirthman told the press that investigators believe Wick was tossed out of a vehicle on the roadway.

However, police have not said where they believe Wick was slain, how his life was taken, and a motive.

The suspect in Wick’s death was previously charged with murder in Athens. Evans was tried for the June 2019 shooting death of David Lee Burnett, 51, who was shot to death in his University Oaks apartment off West Broad Street.

After his arrest for murdering Burnett, Evans denied the crime, although Athens-Clarke police said Evans was in possession of a firearm that forensic tests showed was used in Burnett’s slaying. Evans told police that he found the gun on the roadside in Oconee County, according to testimony in the 2021 trial.

Evans was living in Winder at the time of the slaying in Jefferson, according to the arrest report. He is currently in the Barrow County Jail.

Jessika Wood is organizing this fundraiser.

It has been almost 2 weeks since Ashley Boyett, Megan Kinev and Allysa Boyett received the most devastating news that their beloved son and brother, Joshua Wick, was found murdered on a secluded road in Jefferson, GA.

While the GBI and local law enforcement have been working tirelessly to bring justice for Josh, the family has been trying to find their footing in this new environment, which of course has been extremely difficult.

Josh was a kind and loving person who was just starting out in life. At 19 years young, he was finally holding down his first career and was in his first serious relationship with Allison. He was taken too soon from a family that loved him dearly and will be missed greatly.

Since finding out about this tragedy, the family has missed work and school to grieve the loss of their beloved Josh and now must work to plan a Celebration of Life to honor his memory. I thought it would be nice to extend this platform to anyone that would like to make donations to help the family for lost days of work and the costs associated with the Celebration of Life.

Josh's family greatly appreciates all of your support and prayers during this tragic time.

Will check into it
thanks for post.

YES, IT APPEARS THAT THE RETARDED MEDIA SCREWED UP ON THIS ONE.
IN ONE NEWS REPORT THERE IS A PICTURE OF David Lee Burnett as a WHITE MAN

and in another MEDIA news report the same victim David Lee Burnett is shown as a BLACK man.

In any case the Negro suspect remains black
and the NEW victim appears to be WHITE for now :)
