The parents of a 2-year-old boy who died in December with a “significant amount” of cocaine in his system are now facing felony murder charges in Spotsylvania.
Cinceir Croxton, 24, and Kahleighya D. Coleman, 22, were both indicted Monday by a Spotsylvania grand jury on the murder charges and various drug offenses.

They had already been charged with offenses that include child endangerment, child neglect and child cruelty. Felony murder carries the possibility of up to 40 years in prison.
The child died in a Richmond hospital on Dec. 6. He was rushed there after becoming ill the previous day. The couple had taken the child to Richmond on Dec. 5 to attend a court hearing for Coleman, and his health took a drastic turn for the worse after they returned to the Spotsylvania motel where they had been staying.
According to evidence presented at a prior hearing, the couple remained at the motel while the child was taken back to Richmond for treatment at the VCU Medical Center. A doctor informed police that the child had a significant amount of cocaine in his system when he died, according to court records.
The couple was still at the motel with a video game on their television screen when police returned with a search warrant. Three ounces of cocaine were found in the room, along with about $4,000 in cash and several firearms.
At the time of his arrest in Spotsylvania, Croxton was already facing four drug distribution charges in Caroline for controlled buys that occurred more than a month before the child’s death. He has since pleaded guilty to two of those charges and was sentenced in Caroline in April to a total of 20 years with all but a year and two months suspended, court records show.
Trial dates for the pair in Spotsylvania have not yet been set. Both are being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
