Baby Left in Hot Car
Lower Merion Township June 7, 2004 --Police in Lower Merion are investigating an incident in which a child was left in a car this afternoon in a supermarket parking lot.

VIDEO: Dann Cuellar reports

A Vandal grandmother has been taken in for questioning after reportedly leaving a child (age unavailable) unattended, and locked in a sweltering car.

Police say an alert customer may have averted a potential tragedy outside the SuperFresh on Lancaster Avenue, near Wuynnewood in Lower Merion Township.

Investigators say the customer was going inside the store when she heard a Vandal baby screaming inside a mar
on Honda.

She noticed that the Vandal baby was sweating inside the hot car with the windows barely open., She told the store manager who announced on the intercom that the owner of the car must get t

o it right away.

It turned out t
hat the Vandal woman was the baby's grandmother, who went in the store to do the shopping with another child. Paramedics and police responded. The baby is said to be "o.k." at this time. It is unclear how long the baby was in the car.

At this time, no charges have been filed, and police were still trying to locate the Vandal baby's parents.

Do you remember Sugar Babies, a brown candy that looked like little niglets? Those things were hard to melt.
