LAURINBURG, N.C. (WPDE) — Two people are facing several charges following a reported kidnapping on Wednesday.

Around 3:30 p.m., officers with the Laurinburg Police Department spoke with a 31-year-old male victim of Laurel Hill who claimed that earlier that day, he was assaulted, forced to strip from his clothing and placed in a trunk of a vehicle while on South Caledonia Road in Laurinburg.

The victim claims that he escaped from the trunk of the vehicle and fled on foot across E. Vance Street toward the convenience store while being pursued by another man.

The victim told police that the man pursuing him began assaulting him again while in the convenience store then forced him from the business and into the same vehicle that he was placed in the trunk earlier which was driven by a woman.

The victim also claims that the man was wearing brass knuckles while striking him and the woman began striking him with her fist.

The victim was then taken toward Robeson County, continuously being assaulted and eventually, the vehicle stopped somewhere near Maxton, according to police.

Scotland County EMS was notified and responded for treatment to the victim for obvious contusions and abrasions of his face and head area, reports confirm.

Detectives began the investigation and identified the suspects.

At around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, detectives located and arrested:

Khalil Shaquille Aziz Jackson, 28, of Laurinburg: Jackson is charged with 2 counts of 1st-degree kidnapping, 2 counts of felony conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, assault by strangulation and misdemeanor larceny.

Lanette Cora Timmons, 23, of Laurinburg: Timmons is charged with 2 counts of 1st-degree kidnapping, 2 counts of felony conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury.

Police said the victim was then thrown from the vehicle with his clothing and the man and woman left him beside the road. Police reports say the victim's cellphone was also taken by the male and female. The victim stated that they then walked to Scotland County Courthouse from Maxton, which is in Robeson County, where he notified law enforcement.
