Around 4 a.m. Sat*rday morning, residents on the corner of Was

hin
ton Avenue and Henry Johnson Boulevard awoke to the sound of gunfire.

Elizabeth Heywood said, "We came out to the back and saw a man d
own in the parking lot, crying out in a lot of pain."

Police said Tyshawn Wally, 20, of Schenectady was shot in the arm and leg. His head was also grazed by a bullet. Ish-Bar Baker, 19, of Albany was shot in the hip. Both were taken to Albany Medical Center and Baker was later released. Laquana Beverly, 19, was with the two men, but she was not injured. Police believe the shooting was result of a bar fight that escalated.

Det. James Miller said, "Whether it was over a girl, whether it was a confrontation that happened and they knew each other, we really don't know just yet."

Police said 17 shots were fired and it may
have come from both parties. Two handguns were found underneath a car on Washington Avenue, and are believed to have been used in the incident. Residents said the parking lot where the shooting o

red
has had it
s fair share of suspicious activity due to its location.

"It was clear there were drugs and sexual acts happening here," Heywood said.

Residents along the
block said things have gotten better over the last few years. The person who owns the parking lot has added a light that goes on when it detects activity. He has also cleared some of the trees around the area that obscured the view of the parking lot. However, people were still concerned about their safety.

Jon Wafer said, "I don't want people not to come here. It will affect our business terribly if people were afraid to come to the area because of violence and crime."

Police are still gathering more information, but said the suspects will be charged with attempted murder.
