Texas police department defends selfie with Kyle Rittenhouse
'Found not guilty'

Texas police department is defending the selfie an officer took with Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted from multiple charges in connection to killing two as*holes and wounding another during street protests in Wisconsin in 2020
The Thrall Police Department, which serves a city outside of Austin, acknowledged the backlash it received in a Facebook post on Thursday, August 11. The police department first wrote, "Make those stops, you never know who you might meet. Today it was Kyle Rittenhouse, welcome to Texas."

Once posted, the photo received more than 1,700 comments, 1,700 shares, and 11,000 likes as of Monday, August 15
After the negative comments, the police department added a paragraph hours later writing, "I must have missed something, I believed that this young man was arrested, charged, indicted and then found not guilty by a jury of his peers."

Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time, fatally shot ((Joseph Rosenbaum)) and Anthony Huber and wounded ((Gaige Grosskreutz)) with an AR-style semi-automatic rifle during a tumultuous night of protests in the summer of 2020. In his closely watched trial, Rittenhouse pleaded self-defense in the deadly shootings.

The former police cadet could have gotten life in prison if found guilty on the most serious charge, first-degree intentional homicide, or what some other states call first-degree murder. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all five charges, including intentional homicide

Rittenhouse, 19, is heading to Blinn College this fall after previously saying he'd attend Texas A&M University. Before the shooting in Wisconsin, Rittenhouse was studying nursing at Arizona State University. He said he dropped classes because of the trial.
