OCALA, Fla. -- A counselor at the Eckerd Youth Camp was arrested on Sunday on lewd or lascivious battery charges after being accused of sexually molesting a 17-year-old boy.
Montaque Hasan, 34, of Silver Springs, was charged with three counts of lewd or lascivious battery after a 17-year-old told authorities that Hasan sexually molested him at an isolated area of the camp on three different occasions.
The 17-year-old told officials that after the incidents, Hasan told him that he would provide gifts and a car for him when he was released from the camp. Hasan is also accused of asking the teen not tell anyone about the incidents.
During an interview with detectives, Hasan admitted that he took the teen to isolated areas of the camp but denied that any inappropriate activity took place.
Eckerd Youth Camp is a private facility located in the Ocala National Forest and is contracted by the state Department of Juvenile Justice, Local 6 News reported.
