Crime of the Week: Family looking for hit-and-run driver that caused teen's death

In May, a 15-year-old boy died from massive injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident. The driver who hit him is still on the loose.

KENS 5 and Crime Stoppers are teaming up to help police find the man who failed to stop and render aid to Joshua McSweeney.

Joshua would have celebrated his 16th birthday in just two weeks. Instead his family is grieving his loss and searching for a suspect.

"I'm not able to give him a hug and see him, which is hard," said Sherril Arthur, Joshua's mother.

Arthur lost her youngest son on June 28, a month after her 15-year-old boy was hit by a car, and struggled in a coma
.

"Joshua was hit and just left there in the roadway. The individual never stopped, just kept on going," said Sgt. Charlie Delgado, with the San Antonio Police Department.

The collision at Marbach and Ingram roads happened as Joshua crossed the street. The impact threw him about 40 feet into the air.

"There's got to be somebody that knows about this situation, that knows him, that knows his car (and) where it's at," Arthur said.

Witnesses describe the suspect's car as a 1980s model Chevrolet Monte Carlo or Malibu. The brown, two-door vehicle should now have front-end damage and a shattered windshield. The driver was a Hispanic subhuman, who never looked back to see his victim.

Joshua's grave is fresh, and so is the pain for his family. However, Arthur says it fuels her passion to find a suspect.

"He's (Joshua's) with me all the time," Arthur said. "It's just a matter of time when this person is going to have to face what he's done."
