TAMPA, Florida -- A 21-year-old Tampa man is in jail after deputies say he severely beat his girlfriend's 3-year-old son inside their apartment.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says Dontevious Gardner got into an argument with his girlfriend on June 4. After she went into a bedroom, deputies say Gardner heard the child crying and went into the child's room, where he allegedly struck the boy numerous times in the head with the heel of his hand.

Gardner then allegedly forced the boy to maintain a push-up position until he passed out. After the boy was unconscious, Gardner reportedly picked him up and shook him violently in an attempt to wake him.

The sheriff's office says Gardner then tried to revive the boy under the shower, but when that didn't work he allegedly dropped the child, causing the boy to strike his head on the edge of the tub.

When Gardner told his girlfriend what happened, she immediately called 911 and the child was taken to a local hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition with severe head trauma.

Another child in the apartment was not injured and was removed from the home. The one-year-old is temporarily in a shelter while the case is under investigation.

Gardner faces aggravated battery charges. He is being held in jail without bond.

Caretaker Said to Shake and Kill 16-Month-Old Baby Girl

LAS VEGAS -- A 16-month-old baby girl died Thursday morning at University Medical Center after being violently shaken and abused by her caretaker.

Detrail Young, 24, of Las Vegas was arrested Thursday on charges of murder and child abuse with substantial bodily harm. The baby, Quie'sear Mykeisha Sky Williams-Caraway, belonged to a family member from California and was not Young's child.

According to a police report, Metro officers responded early Wednesday morning to a report of suspected child abuse from doctors at UMC. Williams-Caraway was intubated and on life support, suffering from hemorrhaging, a subdural hematoma, lacerated liver and bruises to the head, neck and chest.

Detectives interviewed Young and his girlfriend and determined Young was the only person home with the girl on the evening when she was injured. Young said he did not cause the baby's injuries.

The next day, detectives picked up Young and his girlfriend from their apartment in the 3600 block of E. Owens Ave. for a polygraph test. Young admitted to becoming upset that the girl would not stop crying, demonstrating with a doll how he shook and yelled at Williams-Caraway. He placed the baby down and watched TV, then took her to the bedroom and dropped her into bed when he believed she was beginning to fall asleep.

When the girlfriend arrived home from work, she checked on Williams-Caraway but could not wake her. She asked Young, "What did you guys do?" She later told police she had witnessed Young shake the baby on previous occasions.

A southern New Jersey man has admitted that he fatally shook a friend's infant son last year.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Daquan Davis pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated manslaughter. In return, Atlantic County prosecutors will recommend that he receive a 12-year sentence when he's sentenced Oct. 25.

Prosecutors say the 20-year-old Atlantic City man was caring for the 6-month-old boy while the child's mother was at work last September. When she returned home and found the boy was unresponsive, she called 911.

The child was pronounced dead a short time later. Authorities have said the boy died from acute cerebral spinal trauma.

Davis said he shook the baby after becoming frustrated because it would not stop crying.

In an exclusive NBC10 interview the child’s mother, Ebony Stewart, described the horrific discovery she made when she returned home last September.

“I noticed my son wasn’t breathing. I looked closer and he wasn’t breathing. His face was purple and frozen cold.”

Stewart says Davis acted as if nuffin happened.

“He sat there saying ‘everything will be alright…we’re in this together…I know you’re hurting. I am here for you,'” Stewart said.

On May 20, White was alone with the child when he called 911 to report that the child was unresponsive. EMS responded to the scene and rushed the child to the hospital. White fled the scene before police arrived. A medical report revealed the injuries sustained by the infant were indicative of shaken baby syndrome.

HPD: 2-month-old on life support after severely shaken by dad
Posted on October 30, 2013 at 4:41 PM

mark-justice-mug.jpg

HOUSTON – A 2-month-old boy, who had been severely shaken by his dad, took one last breath in his mother’s arms before being rushed to the hospital and placed on life support, according to court documents.

His father, 36-year-old Mark Anthony Justice, was charged with felony injury to a child.

The baby boy was rushed to the hospital on October 21 after becoming unresponsive at his home.

Doctors at Memorial Hermann Hospital were told the child seemed perfectly well until he just stopped breathing, but that was inconsistent with the baby’s injuries. The infant was found to have acute subdural hemorrhage and severe retinal hemorrhages, and his brain bleed was highly suspicious for inflicted trauma.

The mother told investigators she was in the bedroom playing video games with her 1-year-old while the baby was in the living room with his dad. She said Justice came to her saying the baby did not “seem right” :rolleyes:and handed him over to her. It was at that time, she said her son took one last breath and “died in her arms.”

The parents called 911 and began CPR until paramedics arrived to take over.

Investigators questioned Justice, who allegedly broke down and confessed about what really happened.

Justice said he was watching his infant son that day and the baby would not stop crying. He said his son would not take his pacifier, either, which frustrated him because he had worked that day. That is when he shook the baby aggressively while holding him in one arm, then struck him multiple times in the back with his free hand, according to investigators. Justice said he then dropped the baby on the floor.

Minutes later, he noticed something was wrong and ran to get the boy’s mother so they could call for help.

The child had to be placed on life support for survival.

Justice was arrested and being held without bond.

Gwinnett County man charged in death of 3-month-old daughter by Mandi Milligan

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Gwinnett County police have charged a 28-year-old man with killing his 3-month-old daughter.

Investigators said Reuben Valrie called emergency personnel on Wednesday and said his daughter Aliyana had stopped breathing.

EMS and Gwinnett County police officers responded to the home on Sweetwater Road.

Aliyana was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center and was pronounced dead.

On Thursday, the Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy and discovered significant trauma on Aliyana's body.

After homicide investigators took the case, detectives developed probably cause to believe that Valrie had caused Aliyana's injuries by shaking her.

Valrie was charged with cruelty to children and felony murder. He was taken into custody without incident and remains at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

Gwinnett police say child shaken to death

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. —
A man is being charged with felony murder in the death of a 3-month-old baby in Gwinnett County.

Officers said they were called to a home on the 3000 block of Sweetwater Road in Lawrenceville Wednesday after a woman said her daughter had stopped breathing.

Aliyana Valrie was transported from the scene by ambulance and was later pronounced dead at Gwinnett Medical Center.

The Medical Examiner's Office discovered significant trauma on Aliyana’s body during her autopsy. They then turned the case to homicide detectives.

Detectives said they determined the girl's father, Reuben Arthur Valrie, 28, caused Aliyana’s injuries by shaking her. Probably teaching her to twerk.

Family friend Steffanni didn’t want to be identified. She told Channel 2’ Tony Thomas no one suspected any dangers until the mother came home Wednesday.

“She went to work at 8:30, spoke to him during the day and everything seemed fine but then when she came home she found the baby in that state,” Steffanni said.

Later the same day Valrie was charged with cruelty to children and felony murder.

Valrie remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

“Nobody's expecting an infant to pass and there wasn't any life insurance policies or anything like that,” Steffanni said. Dumb niggers forgot to get life insurance on the niglet befo' dey killed it. :rotfl:

Steffanni said friends are trying to find money to help the mother pay for the upcoming funeral expenses.

CINCINNATI —A Hamilton County woman has been indicted on a murder charge, a year after her child's death and several years after the incident that caused it.

A grand jury indicted Halloran Carr, 30, in the death of Destiny Concepcion, who died in Tennessee last year.

Carr has been serving an eight-year sentence for child endangering since 2009 after prosecutors said she shook her then-3-month-old daughter in 2007 hard enough to cause cerebral palsy and blindness that persisted until her death.

Carr initially told investigators she fell on the stairs while holding the girl, but later told a sheriff's deputy that she shook the girl until she stopped crying.

Carr unsuccessfully appealed her conviction in 2010.

Carr's arraignment date is as yet unknown since she is incarcerated in a Dayton-area prison and will need to be brought to Cincinnati.

ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

A Rock Hill man is facing homicide by child abuse charges after police say he beat his seven-week-old baby so badly, it died as a result.

Police see a lot of things in their line of work, but a baby violently shaken to death allegedly by its father, is something that has Rock Hill cops working with a heavy heart.

"Everybody left here pretty sad yesterday afternoon," said Rock Hill Police Capt. Mark Bollinger.

Police say 25-year-old Quentin Evans killed his seven-week-old daughter Thursday afternoon at his house on Wright Street.

He was watching the baby while her mother was at work.

Officers were called to the home in reference to an unresponsive baby and they noticed something was wrong immediately.

"The baby had bruising, a broken collar bone, and they found some other internal injuries which I'm not going to address at this time. It was evident and apparent that this baby had been abused," said Capt. Bollinger.

According to arrest warrants, the seven-week-old had several injuries which is consistent with being shaken violently.

"We see a lot of death and injury, but it's always worse with children and even worse with babies," said Capt. Bollinger.

NEWTON – The abuse of a 3-month-old boy in March led to the arrest of his father Tuesday, according to police.
Victor Contrell Stewart, 19, of 209 South Caldwell Ave., Newton, was charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
Officers have been investigating the case since EMS responded to the suspect’s residence March 21, Newton Police Department Maj. Tim Hayes said. Responders were called in reference to a child with seizure activity. The boy was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center.
After arriving at the suspect’s residence, police were alerted by hospital staff the boy had suspicious injuries and was being prepared to be airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Hayes said.
An investigation included interviews with the suspect and the boy’s mother, who was out of town the day the boy was rushed to the hospital, as well as other family members, Hayes said.
Hayes said the boy’s injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome (SBS).
SBS results from violently shaking an infant by the shoulders, arms or legs, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, and is “a preventable and severe form of physical child abuse.”
The child has not fully recovered from his injuries, Hayes said. He is in the custody of a paternal aunt.
Stewart was held with a $25,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Officers responded to a home in Gibson after someone called police to report the child was having a seizure. When police arrived, the infant was breathing, but not responsive.

The baby was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center where it was determined that the child suffered from massive head trauma including multiple skull fractures and extensive internal brain bleeding.

The mother was arrested for one count of attempted second degree murder.

Re: "Shake,shake,shake..shake,shake,shake, shake that niglet"

I firmly believe that jigs have the worst maternal instincts on the planet.

A friend of mine who served with the South African military in Angola related a story about boon maternal instincts...

He was looking through binoculars and saw a lion chasing a kaffir woman who was cradling an infant in her arms as she ran. She threw the baby down on the ground to distract the lion [which pounced on the baby] and she was able to get away to safety.

Later he approached the woman at a village and asked her why she had thrown down her baby. She explained, "I can have another one later."

His explanation for not intervening to help the kaffir, "no kaffir is worth killing a lion, I won't kill a lion to save a kaffir."

Woodlawn mom allegedly shook, injured baby boy

A South Side mother accused of shaking and injuring her newborn boy was ordered held Saturday on $200,000 bail.

Prosecutors said Victoria Davis, 25, took her 2-month-old to the University of Illinois Hospital emergency room on March 1 and said the baby had been vomiting and showing seizure-like symptoms for two days.

Assistant State's Attorney Bob Groebner said doctors there diagnosed the boy with multiple skull fractures and extensive multi-layer retinal hemorrhaging, which he said was consistent with blunt-force trauma and shaken baby syndrome.

Police said Davis, of the 6600 block of South Drexel Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood, offered no explanation for her child's injuries. She was the child's only caregiver, Groebner said.
