A Chattanooga man who rammed a state patrol trooper's vehicle last year during a high-speed chase in Coffee County has been sentenced to serve 15 years and eight months in federal prison.

Corderius Trammell, 28, appeared Monday morning before Judge Sandy Mattice.

Prosecutor Meredith Edwards said the long criminal history of Trammell started at age 13 and includes 21 different cases . He had six prior drug convictions.

Trammell is listed as a career offender in Federal Court.

Judge Mattice, noting that sentences are much longer on the federal level, said Trammel "didn't take it seriously before."

Trammell agreed, saying, "This serious up here."

The judge said, "We were not able to get Mr. Trammell's attention any other way."

Trammel said, "I never had a loving father. My mother did everything she could."

The mother was in the courtroom, and Trammell had a note passed to her before the hearing started. :pity:

Trammell said the long sentence was "forcing me away from my kids." :ha::rolleyes:

He earlier pleaded guilty on a meth selling charge. :no2:

One of his earlier charges was robbery of a Subway restaurant. :no2:
