Staffordshire Police want to speak to these two men after two friends were attacked in Stafford Street, in Hanley

Police have released CCTV of two men they want to speak to after two friends were 'left for dead' in a Stoke-on-Trent street attack.

They hope StokeonTrentLive readers can help them identify the two men captured on CCTV in Hanley in the early hours of Sunday, September 5.

It follows a disturbance at 5.18am on Sunday in Stafford Street, Hanley, which left two friends - aged 19 and 25 - unconscious and later in the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The 25-year-old victim has required full facial reconstruction surgery and remains in a 'serious' condition in hospital. The 19-year-old has since been discharged from the Royal Stoke.

Family and friends have reported how the two victims had gone to the aid of a woman before they were attacked.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Officers have reviewed CCTV footage of the area at the time and are appealing for anyone who recognises the men to get in touch.

"The men are described as black. One was wearing a white, short-sleeved t-shirt and black waistcoat with blue jeans, and the other was wearing dark clothing."
Anyone who knows the identity or whereabouts of the two men should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 178 of September 5, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
