FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
North Precinct detectives at 2:45 a.m. today charged Steven Bernard Sydnor with criminal homicide for the stabbing death of his girlfriend inside their apartment in the Brookwood complex at 714 Due West Avenue.
Detectives discovered April Dawn Anderson, 39, bound on the floor of the apartment. Her throat had been cut.
The investigation began at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when Sydnor, 28, flagged down East Precinct Officer Shane Fairbanks at the intersection of Sylvan and South 7th Streets. Sydnor told Fairbanks that he had been involved in an alterc
ation with his girlfriend and that he thought she was dead. Officers and Fire Department personnel rushed to the a
partment. Forced entry was made and Anderson was found dead in a bedroom.
Detectives believe that Anderson was likely killed on Sunday, the day that Sydnor said he left the apartment. Anderson
