Man Charged in Ex-Girlfriend's Shooting
(09/12/05 -- DURHAM) - A Durham man is facing several charges after police say he shot his ex-girlfriend over the weekend.
Police say Timothy McDonald opened fire Sunday on Cynthia Greene after an argument at Kingdom Baptist Church on Sedwick Road in Durham. Officers say it happened in front of the couple's 7-year-old son.
Police spotted McDonald's car moments after the shooting and followed him to the parking lot of Asbury Temple United Methodist Church on Alston Avenue. They say McDonald's son was in his lap when McDonald pulled out a gun and threatened to sho
ot himself. Officers evacuated the church and convinced McDonald to free his son and surrender.

rt, Greene was recovering at Duke University Hospital.
McDonald is in the Durham County Jail on $100,000 secured bond, facing several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, child abuse and assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present. He will appear again in court October 11 for a probable cause hearing.
It's not McDonald's first brush with the law. His record includes assault on a female and communicating threats. Both charges were dismissed when the witness did not show up in court.
A friend of McDonald's who would not identify herself says she saw no signs of violence in the past several days.
"I talked to him Thursday and again Saturday and he seemed fine," the woman said.
