Detective Details Case Against Coach Accused Of Sexual Abuse Of Student
A Crimes Against Children detective gave some disturbing testimony Wednesday during the preliminary hearing of a volunteer high school basketball coach accused of sexually abusing a player.
Gregory Lemont Linton, 26, has been charged with first degree sexual abuse and unlawful transaction with a minor. Police say Linton tried to pay one of the members of the Bryan Station High School girl's basketball team for sex. Linton pleaded not guilty to the charges in Fayette Circuit Court last week.
During the preliminary hearing Wednesday, the Crimes Against Children detective detailed the allegations agai
nst Linton.
"On the way home, he asked her for her to give him oral sex, to which she replied no," said the d
etective. "He asked if he could pay for it and she stated no. She didn't think of him that way."
Linton's attorney requested that his bond be lowered, but the judge refused. However he did agree Linton was eligible for a property bond, which Linton is expected to post.
Linton's arrest caused other problems. The Fayette County School System says proper procedures weren't followed in hiring Linton as a volunteer girl's basketball coach. Because of that, Bryan Station's athletic director, Susan Montgomery, was suspended without pay for two months and principal Bob Gilmore was publicly reprimanded. (They should be fired for being so stupid as to think hiring a nigger buck to coach young girls would not lead to this episode!!)
Linton had been a substitute teacher with Fayette County s
chools for the last two years. Fayette County school officials say they did a background check on Linton and he passed.
