New York City cops are hunting for the goon accused of stealing a 13-year-old girl’s bike and threatening her with violence on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
The NYPD says the unidentified man approached the young girl at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and West 86 Street, and threatened her with physical harm if she did not surrender her bike.
The suspect, described as being in his late teens, grabbed the bike and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Armed carjackers flash guns, steal Porsche, BMWs, other loot as they terrorize at least 5 people in NYC: cops

A pair of high-end armed robbers made off with a Porsche, two BMWs, and assorted loot — including a watch, sunglasses, and $1,800 in cash — during a recent series of heists in Queens, police said.
The luxury carjackers terrorized at least five people during a stick-up spree over the last week, and remained on the loose Thursday, the NYPD said as it released a surveillance image showing one of the suspects wearing a dark ski mask and black jacket.
The first gunpoint robbery took place last Friday at around 7 p.m. when a 35-year-old woman parked her 2018 Porsche sedan at 67th Avenue and 228th Street in Oakland Gardens.
An unidentified vehicle rolled up to her and a passenger hopped out, flashed a gun, and forced her to cough up her cell phone and her car, police said.
He got behind the wheel of her Porsche and took off, while his accomplice remained in the other car and drove away as well, cops said.
The woman was not physically hurt.
About two hours later, the duo targeted a 46-year-old man who had just parked his black 2022 Mercedes Benz sedan on Farrington Street near 31st Road in Flushing, police said.
The pair pulled up to the victim just before 9 p.m. in the Porsche that was stolen earlier, and one of them got out with a gun in tow, cops said.

The gunman struck the victim in the head before hopping in the driver’s seat of the Mercedes, while his partner-in-crime took off in the Porsche — both heading east on the Whitestone Expressway, authorities said.

The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The thieves struck again around 11 p.m. Sunday, approaching a 41-year-old man who was sitting inside a 2022 BMW SUV at Pople Avenue and College Point Boulevard in Flushing, cops said.

Both suspects got inside the car, flashed a gun, and grabbed the victim’s watch, as well as $1,800.

The pair then drove off in the same stolen Porsche sedan, heading north on College Point Boulevard, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Then on Monday at around 3 a.m., the armed robbers jumped inside a 25-year-old man’s parked black BMW SUV on Prince Street near 35th Avenue in Flushing, cops said.

They hit the man in the head and snatched his cell phone, jacket, and sunglasses.

One of them stole his BMW, while the other drove off in the Porsche, cops said.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Just about an hour later, the crooks were in a black BMW sedan when they crashed into another BMW sedan, driven by a 45-year-old man, at 41st Avenue and Haight Street in Flushing, police said.

They flashed a gun and ripped off the victim’s sunglasses and $1,000 before driving away west on 41st Avenue, cops said.

In this case, they did not steal the victim’s ride, and the motorist did not report any injuries.

Police described one of the wanted suspects as having a light complexion and medium build.

He was last seen wearing a black coat and black ski mask.

The other man was described as having a dark complexion and medium build, according to cops.

The Big Apple has seen at least a 16% increase in car thefts so far this year — with 15,230 reported as of Sunday, Dec. 17, compared to 13,133 by that point in 2022, according to the most recent available NYPD statistics.

In a chaotic late November case, Terrence Brooks, 37, allegedly stole a car in Midtown — but then crashed it into a taxi and jumped on top of a Cadillac SUV before he was busted, authorities said.

Weeks earlier, Queens man Mauro Chimbay, 43, was thrown to his death while clinging to the hood of a BMW as he tried to stop thieves who broke into his car in broad daylight.

Mob of over 100 looters smashes car through Compton bakery, trashes store after street takeover

A mob of over 100 looters purposefully crashed a Kia into a small bakery in Compton, Calif., before they flooded in and ransacked the store during a night of rampage on the streets earlier this week.
The thieves had gathered in the area for an illegal street takeover around 3 a.m. Tuesday before making the mile-long trek to Ruben’s Bakery & Mexican Food.
When they got to the locked store, a white Kia backed into the front doors, clearing an entryway for the crowd of pillagers to get to their loot.
Security footage captured the chaotic scene in the store as the mob filled their arms and pockets with as much as they could before the store was set to open in three hours.
A majority of the looters attempted to conceal their identities by either wearing masks or holding their hoods over their faces with their hands.
Meat scales, meat, groceries and lotto tickets were among the goods stolen in Tuesday morning’s brazen robbery, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Capt. Melissa Ramirez.

Police had received two calls about a car on fire and a street takeover outside the bakery just before the looting occurred.
Residents of the neighborhood say they don’t feel safe while the crime continues in the Southern LA city.
“When I walked in there and saw you had taken a car and pushed the door in, that was very disheartening for me,” one resident told NBC Los Angeles. “People are coming in and vandalizing, it’s just scary.”
Local politicians are looking to push back on the frequency of the illegal street takeovers following the looters’ path of destruction at the bakery.

“Ensuring the safety of businesses and residents in our city is our top priority,” Compton Democratic Mayor Emma Sharif said at a city council meeting Tuesday night, hours after the wild bakery break-in.
During the meeting, Sharif urged the city council members to sign an ordinance that would increase citations for those involved in street takeovers.
“We need to vote on this so that we can actually start implementing the changes that’s been made in the policy.

But not everyone is happy with the government’s response, with many residents frustrated by the lack of action.
“They’ve been out there running amok, tearing our streets up,” one frustrated resident told KCAL News. “It’s just like, when is this gonna stop?”
“So sick and tired of hearing this crap every single day,” another cried during the public comments section of the meeting.

The takeovers have been a problem across Los Angeles County for the past few years, with city and county officials trying different methods to thwart the gatherings.
One woman, whose brother was fatally struck by a car fleeing a street takeover last year, has been desperately looking for some action by the city.
“Every time a street is taking over, we relive our nightmare, a nightmare we have been reliving almost going on a year now and I would hate for anything to happen to another family. I want to know, what’s the plan?” Cindi Enamorado asked the city council members.

The heartbroken sister shared that she had met with a few of the city council members to discuss approaches the city could take, like education, infrastructure and enforcement.
“We need to create a firewall, we need to stop allowing these kids that are coming from other cities that terrorize and vandalize the city, we need to really take this as serious as it is because at this moment, it’s only a matter of time before another life is lost.”
No injuries or arrests were reported in Tuesday’s looting.

A lowlife mom was caught on camera pushing her young daughter to steal a purse from a Georgia restaurant — as the thieving family skipped out on a $500 bill.

Mooching mother of three Kenya Butler, 27, was seen in security footage slyly pointing out an unattended purse in a booth at The Juicy Crab in Newman to her 7-year-old daughter, who snags the bag and heads for the door.

Butler had another child in her arms during the March 2 theft and had just finished a seafood feast with a large group of people at the shellfish spot — but the group left without shelling out a cent for the bill, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Man used tow truck to steal vehicles, take them to scrapyard for sale: Philadelphia police

March 21, 2024 / 9:11 AM EDT / CBS Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia tow truck driver used his truck to steal cars all over the city and scrap them for cash, police said Wednesday.

Lamar Miller, 45, faces seven counts of theft by unlawful taking for the alleged thefts, Philadelphia police Capt. Jason Smith of the Major Crimes Unit announced in a news conference.

Miller's latest alleged spree, according to police, was seen on surveillance video in September 2023.

The videos led police to a scrapyard called Titan Auto Recycling, where they say he sold seven stolen vehicles.

"These vehicles that are being turned in for scrap metal are supposed to be accompanied by a title at the least," Smith said. "I'd like to see stricter laws for these recycling centers."

Police believe further investigation into other unsolved thefts may lead them back to Miller.

"Mr Miller is going to be responsible for many, many more thefts than this," Smith said.

Miller is currently out on a $105,000 bond while the investigation continues.

A phony Amazon worker has ripped off nearly $35,000 in jewelry and valuables — including cash stashed for a 12-year-old girl — during a months-long burglary spree, authorities said.
The prowler — seen in surveillance video wearing an Amazon delivery vest — is suspected in a string of nine cat burglaries and break-ins from January 2023 to March 5, targeting the Astoria, Sunnyside and Long Island City neighborhoods, police said.
In a Feb. 28 heist — the one that netted him the most loot — the thief entered through the window of a home at 39th Place and 43rd Avenue in Sunnyside around 10:30 a.m. Feb. 28 and stole about $9,000 and $1,800 worth of unspecified property, cops said.

Alleged Tennessee shoplifter sues Walgreens after being shot 7 times by employee in parking lot

By
Daniella Genovese, Fox Business

Published March 29, 2024, 8:36 p.m. ET

A Tennessee woman is suing Walgreens after an employee of the retail giant suspected her of shoplifting and shot her seven times in the store parking lot, leaving her in critical condition.
Last April, the East Nashville Walgreens employee, Mitarius Boyd, suspected a seven-months pregnant Travonsha Ferguson or her friend “was attempting to shoplift Walgreens merchandise from the store,” according to court paperwork filed Wednesday and obtained by FOX Business.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Boyd had been notified by another employee that two women were stealing items from the store located at 2500 Gallatin Avenue.
Boyd said he saw the women placing items into a store cart and into a large over-the-shoulder bag and began recording the women with his cell phone. He proceeded to follow them as they left the store without paying, according to police.

Boyd told police that he made his way over to the women as they put the items in their trunk.
Ferguson claimed in the lawsuit that Boyd “never identified himself as an employee, and aggressively confronted” them about the alleged merchandise “while cursing and screaming.”
Ferguson claimed in the suit that she sprayed Boyd with mace “in fear of imminent bodily harm to baby Ferguson and herself,” the court documents stated.
Boyd then shot Ferguson “up to seven times, which resulted in serious bodily harm” to her and her baby, the documents stated.

Boyd was terminated from Walgreens as a result of the incident, which left Ferguson and her baby critically injured.

Boyd admitted to police that he pulled out his semi-automatic pistol and began shooting. He also said that he didn’t know if they were armed, according to the police report.

After the women fled the scene, Boyd went back into the store and called 911.

Meanwhile, Ferguson was rushed to the hospital where she was in “critical but stable condition” and underwent an emergency C-Section, according to police.

She “sustained internal and/or intestinal injuries and, as a medical necessity, must now wear a colostomy bag to survive,” according to the suit.

Her baby “fought for his life for weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit” and “is at an increased risk of long-term intellectual and developmental disabilities,” the suit continued.

Ferguson’s lawyer, L. Chris Stewart, told FOX Business in a statement that she now has “long-term health issues that she is forced to deal with every day.”

Additionally, Stewart argued that her baby, which was delivered prematurely, “suffered a life-altering heart defect that will also require ongoing care.”

Police said Boyd cooperated with detectives, his gun was seized, and he handed over his cell phone as evidence. Boyd was fired as a result of the which violated Walgreens policies, according to court documents.

“We intend to hold Walgreens accountable for the egregious actions of their employee who was a team leader at that location,” Stewart said. “Following someone to the parking lot and shooting them seven times for allegedly shoplifting is outrageous conduct that cannot be tolerated by corporations around the country.”

Walgreens declined comment due to pending litigation.

A brazen gunman waltzed into a Foot Locker in The Bronx and stole a bunch of brand-name clothes — then whined on his way out that a worker dared to jostle him during the crime, cops and staff said Sunday.
The unidentified suspect hit the Third Avenue store about 7:45 p.m. April 9, police said.
He gathered a whole stack of Nike sweatshirts and sweatpants, according to security guard Lawrence Graham, who was not working that day but heard about the ordeal from the guard who was there.

This man allegedly robbed a Bronx Foot Locker, then flashed a gun at the guard who tried to stop him, cops said. DCPI
“The guy came in and went straight to this right here,” Graham said as he gestured toward a rack of gray Nike sweats.

“He swiped clothes from right here, he pulled out a gun,” Graham told The Post on Sunday. “He put the gun back and went to the hats. Walked around here with the hats, got some more stuff and walked straight out.”
