Two days before he is sworn into the United States Senate, incoming Utah Senator Mitt Romney is blasting President Donald Trump's character.

In an op-ed for the Washington Post, Romney criticizes the president, saying that he hoped when Trump was elected in 2016 that he would "rise to the occasion" as leader of the free world.

"On balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office," Romney wrote.

The senator stated that he had confidence that Trump would succeed early in the presidency as he appointed Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Nikki Haley, Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, John Kelly and Jim Mattis to positions in his administration.

None of the names Romney listed are still working for Trump, with Mattis, Kelly, and Haley all leaving their posts in December 2018. Haley announced her departure in October, while Mattis and Kelly left last month.

"To a great degree, a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. A president should unite us and inspire us to follow “our better angels.” A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect. As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring," Romney writes.

Romney mentions that Trump has established some good policies for America, including the appointment of conservative judges, cracking down on China's trade practices and criminal justice reform.

"These are policies mainstream Republicans have promoted for years. But policies and appointments are only a part of a presidency," Romney said.

Romney writes that America has been looked to across the world for leadership and at a time when many European allies are experiencing "political upheaval" that leadership is more important than ever.

"Trump’s words and actions have caused dismay around the world. In a 2016 Pew Research Center poll, 84 percent of people in Germany, Britain, France, Canada and Sweden believed the American president would “do the right thing in world affairs.” One year later, that number had fallen to 16 percent," Romney said.

The senator goes on to say that in order to be a political leader on the world stage, politics in the United States must first be repaired. He also calls on Trump to "inspire and unite us."

"It includes political parties promoting policies that strengthen us rather than promote tribalism by exploiting fear and resentment. Our leaders must defend our vital institutions despite their inevitable failings: a free press, the rule of law, strong churches, and responsible corporations and unions, Romney said.

"The world needs American leadership, and it is in America’s interest to provide it. A world led by authoritarian regimes is a world — and an America — with less prosperity, less freedom, less peace."

Romney frequently criticized Trump in the run-up to the 2016 election, and has remained vocal about his discontent with some of the president's behavior and policies since Trump entered the White House.

In response to the op-ed, Trump's 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale responded on Twitter, writing, "The truth is @MittRomney lacked the ability to save this nation. @realDonaldTrump has saved it. Jealously is a drink best served warm and Romney just proved it. So sad, I wish everyone had the courage @realDonaldTrump had.”

Romney served as the governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007 and was the Republican nominee for president in 2012.

Mitt Romney Attacks Trump For Moving to End Our Forever Wars

Mitt Romney accused Trump of being an immoral person

Mitt Romney never spoke out against President Obama after losing his presidential race against him in 2012 but he has attacked President Trump incessantly over the last two years.

Romney’s latest attack, released just two days before he’s scheduled to take office on Thursday, accused Trump of being an immoral person for moving to end one of our many forever wars.

From Romney’s op-ed in The Washington Post, “How A President Shapes The Public Character”:

It is well known that Donald Trump was not my choice for the Republican presidential nomination. After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion. His early appointments of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Nikki Haley, Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, Kelly and Mattis were encouraging. But, on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this last month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office.

It is not that all of the president’s policies have been misguided. He was right to align U.S. corporate taxes with those of global competitors, to strip out excessive regulations, to crack down on China’s unfair trade practices, to reform criminal justice and to appoint conservative judges. These are policies mainstream Republicans have promoted for years. But policies and appointments are only a part of a presidency.

This is the same guy who lost to Obama by running on “principles” (which he doesn’t have) and succeeded in implementing nothing.

The world is also watching. America has long been looked to for leadership. Our economic and military strength was part of that, of course, but our enduring commitment to principled conduct in foreign relations, and to the rights of all people to freedom and equal justice, was even more esteemed. Trump’s words and actions have caused dismay around the world. In a 2016 Pew Research Center poll, 84 percent of people in Germany, Britain, France, Canada and Sweden believed the American president would “do the right thing in world affairs.” One year later, that number had fallen to 16 percent.

All those countries also hate our wars in the Middle East — all of which Romney supports — and I assure you he doesn’t give a damn about those polls.

This comes at a very unfortunate time. Several allies in Europe are experiencing political upheaval. Several former Soviet satellite states are rethinking their commitment to democracy. Some Asian nations, such as the Philippines, lean increasingly toward China, which advances to rival our economy and our military. The alternative to U.S. world leadership offered by China and Russia is autocratic, corrupt and brutal.

How is this anything but pure hatred and bigotry?

Why do these globalists never celebrate the diversity of China and Russia?

He even goes on to say, “America is strongest when our arms are linked with other nations” — just so long as it’s not those evil Chinese or Russkies!

Neocons like Romney are totally against nationalism when it comes to enforcing our borders and not letting in the entire world, but fiercely nationalistic when it comes to waging war on the entire world.

To reassume our leadership in world politics, we must repair failings in our politics at home. That project begins, of course, with the highest office once again acting to inspire and unite us. It includes political parties promoting policies that strengthen us rather than promote tribalism by exploiting fear and resentment. Our leaders must defend our vital institutions despite their inevitable failings: a free press, the rule of law, strong churches, and responsible corporations and unions.

This is the same guy who couldn’t get elected again in liberal Massachusetts so he moved to 86 percent white, 62 percent Mormon Utah to get elected on identity politics alone.

Now he’s lecturing us about “tribalism.”

The Democrats are openly going to run on anti-white identity politics in 2020. Trump won because he got the rural whites who stayed home during Romney’s disastrous campaign to show up to the polls. If he can’t do it again, he’s going to lose.

[…] I do not intend to comment on every tweet or fault. But I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.

I remain optimistic about our future. In an innovation age, Americans excel. More importantly, noble instincts live in the hearts of Americans. The people of this great land will eschew the politics of anger and fear if they are summoned to the responsibility by leaders in homes, in churches, in schools, in businesses, in government – who raise our sights and respect the dignity of every child of God – the ideal that is the essence of America.

Really inspiring stuff. Vague general statements about “principles” is what’s going to win us elections, folks! Take it from two-time loser Mitt Romney!

Whatever you do, don’t talk about the opiate crisis, ending our forever wars, stopping and reversing mass immigration, Big Tech censorship, social justice mobs or anything people actually care about — just keep talking about “American leadership,” “our values,” and “conservative principles!”

It worked out great for us in 2008 and 2012!

Never-Trump Globalist Mitt Romney says He’s No Longer “Part of the Republican Establishment” — Then Slams Trump

Link: http://www.stationgossip.com/2019/08/never-trump-globalist-mitt-romney-says.html

Freshman Senator and Trump-basher Mitt Romney told an audience on Monday that he no longer considers himself a “part of the Republican establishment.”

Romney then went on for several minutes to slam President Trump.

Romney will always be establishment.

And President Trump holds a 91% approval rating with Republican voters.

Even with Mitt and other elites pounding him every day.

KUER reported:

Seven years after running for president as the GOP standard bearer, U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney on Monday described himself as a “renegade Republican” and said that he is “not part of the Republican establishment these days.”

In a wide-ranging speech at the Sutherland Institute, a conservative think tank in Salt Lake City, Utah’s junior senator argued against “socialist” proposals being discussed on the Democratic presidential debate stage such as “Medicare for All” and free college tuition. He also lamented that “neither party is interested in talking about the debt and the deficit.”

“I guess I should consider myself a renegade Republican because I still believe that deficits and debt matter a lot,” Romney said.

The freshman senator and onetime presidential nominee went on to criticize several aspects of President Donald Trump’s trade and foreign relations policies.

“I don’t like tariffs being placed on our friends and allies, I think the likes of Putin and Kim Jong-un deserve censure instead of flattery, and I think demonstrating personal character is one of the most important responsibilities of the leader of the land,” he said, echoing an op-ed he authored in the Washington Post days before taking office in January.

Vocal #NeverTrumper Mitt Romney Continues Assault on President Trump: May Vote to Remove Him

Link: http://www.stationgossip.com/2019/10/vocal-nevertrumper-mitt-romney.html

Mitt Romney really is the absolute worst.
This guy just can’t stop attacking this president.

Today he sat down with the far left Atlantic to throw a few potshots at President Trump.

To Romney, Trump’s performance as president is inextricably tangled up in his character. “Berating another person, or calling them names, or demeaning a class of people, not telling the truth—those are not private things,” he says, adding: “If during the campaign you pay a porn star $130,000, that now comes into the public domain.”…

…Romney told me that he does not have an abstract definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” and that when it comes to identifying impeachable acts, he follows Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart’s famous standard for defining hard-core porn: “I’ll know it when I see it.” Asked if he’s seen it yet, Romney told me that he’ll make up his mind once he hears all the evidence at the trial: “At this stage, I am strenuously avoiding trying to make any judgment.”

In the meantime, Romney is leading the Republican revolt over the president’s recent decision to pull troops out of northern Syria, leaving America’s Kurdish allies behind. In a withering speech on the Senate floor last week, he condemned the administration’s betrayal of the Kurds, and called for hearings on the matter. He told me that he wants to see a transcript of the phone call between Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that preceded the troop withdrawal. “This is not just a disagreement on foreign policy,” he said. “This is a violation of fundamental American honor.”…

…Romney is looking beyond the next year, and beyond the president’s base, as he tries to lay the groundwork for a post-Trump Republican Party. While he acknowledges the failures of his own presidential campaign, he told me that he doubts Trump’s electoral coalition will be replicable in the long run. “We have to get young people and Hispanics and African Americans to vote Republican,” he said, adding that he hopes these voters will see his resistance to Trump as a sign that one day they could find a home in the GOP. If that seems naive, the senator is probably okay with it. In cynical times like these, someone has to serve as the guardian of lost causes.

After all, Romney said, “the president will not be the president forever.”

MITT IS DONE! — ‘Liked’ Tweets from Mitt Romney’s Secret “Pierre Delecto” Twitter Page Show Man Obsessed with Trump Hatred and Leading GOP Resistance (5 Pics)

Link: http://www.stationgossip.com/2019/10/mitt-is-done-liked-tweets-from-mitt.html

Earlier today leftist tool Mitt Romney was featured in a lengthy anti-Trump expose’ in The Atlantic.

During the interview Mitt admitted to having a second secret Twitter account following 668 people.

Via the Atlantic:

“That’s kind of what he does,” Romney said with a shrug, and then got up to retrieve an iPad from his desk. He explained that he uses a secret Twitter account—“What do they call me, a lurker?”—to keep tabs on the political conversation. “I won’t give you the name of it,” he said, but “I’m following 668 people.” Swiping at his tablet, he recited some of the accounts he follows, including journalists, late-night comedians (“What’s his name, the big redhead from Boston?”), and athletes. Trump was not among them. “He tweets so much,” Romney said, comparing the president to one of his nieces who overshares on Instagram. “I love her, but it’s like, Ah, it’s too much.”

It didn’t take Slate contributor Ashley Feinberg too long to find the secret account.

“Pierre Delecto”

According to Feinberg:

The Pierre Delecto account’s very first follow was eldest Romney scion Tagg, joined shortly thereafter by Glen Johnson, a current politics editor for Boston.com who was firmly on the Romney beat around the time the account was originally created. Next was Mark DeMoss, who the Salt Lake Tribune described in 2012 as “an unpaid adviser to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign for the past five years,” and Eric Fehrnstrom, who still has “Former @MittRomney adviser” in his Twitter bio.

The Pierre Delecto Twitter page was set to private.

Earlier today The Gateway Pundit posted a few of the 257 liked tweets in Mitt Romney’s secret account.

But it is much worse than we first reported.

Mitt Romney’s ‘liked’ tweets show a man consumed with Trump hatred and leading the Republican Resistance against this President!

After a very public feud with President Trump, latest poll shows Mitt Romney unpopular in Utah

Link: http://www.domigood.com/2019/10/after-very-public-feud-with-president.html

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) has a lower approval rating than a disapproval rating in the most recent poll after his very public feud with President Donald Trump.

The survey by Utah Policy and Y2 Analytics shows that only 46 percent of respondents in Utah approve of his performance, while 51 percent do not approve of his performance.

Romney was elected in 2018 with 62 percent of the vote.

In January, 54 percent of Utah voters said they wouldn't vote to re-elect Trump, and the same percentage said they approved of Romney standing up to the president.

But ten months after assuming his office in Congress, his net approval rating is underwater after a series of scuffles with Trump.

Jason Perry of the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics opined that the rating also reflected how Utahns looked upon the federal government.

"It's not just about how Mitt Romney has approached the president," Perry said.

"It's a reflection about how Utahns view what's happening in Washington, D.C.," he explained, "more generally and their opinion about what's happening in Congress."

Romney faced some ridicule after he admitted that he had run a secret Twitter account in order to monitor social media and to punch back at his critics. The screen name for this account was "Pierre Delecto."

Roger Stone Gives Rare Interview, Says Senate Lynch Mob Led By Romney A Real Threat To Trump

‘Naive’ to say Trump could not be convicted by Senate, he says

President Trump will likely be removed from office if the Republican-led Senate holds an impeachment trial, according to Trump confidante Roger Stone.

Stone joined The Alex Jones Show in a rare interview on Friday to give a thorough rundown of the threats Trump faces amid the Democrats’ renewed impeachment push against him.

“I did have a front-row seat during the Nixon impeachment,” Stone told Alex Jones. “I also had a front-row seat during the Clinton impeachment. And I must say what is going on now in Washington is completely unlike either of those processes.”

Roger Stone breaks his silence to bring an emergency message to President Trump during The Alex Jones Show.

Stone warned that the GOP-controlled Senate won’t hesitate to vote against Trump if his poll numbers continue to drop, but he also said the president won’t go down without a fight.

“This process is quite different,” he said. “I think that those who sit back and say, ‘Well, the House may impeach the president but surely the Republican Senate will never convict him,’ I think are being naive.”

“The president is in for an incredible fight because his critics — those in the mainstream media and their handmaidens in the two-party duopoly — are hoping that this tsunami of attacks on him…will wear his support down in the states where there are wobbly Republican senators, so they feel comfortable voting for his removal.”

To fight back against waffling Republicans, Stone urged Trump to unleash his “incredible fundraising juggernaut.”

“Donald Trump is a brawler – he has resources,” Stone said. “I would begin utilizing that money to advertise, both digitally and on radio and on broadcast media, in those states where there are Republican senators who may be thinking about joining this lynch mob.”

“As long as the president remains more popular in those states than those individual senators, they will be loath to cast a vote against the president, particularly based on the thinnest read that we have seen so far.”

“My message to the president is take this very seriously,” Stone added, referring to the Deep State impeachment effort. “Stay very focused on those states with wobbly Republican senators. That is where this fight will be won or lost.”

Vehement anti-Trump Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) indicated he may vote for impeachment after his Twitter account alias “Pierre Delecto” was discovered this week, which had ‘liked’ several posts about impeaching Trump.

Additionally, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) signaled his willingness to cooperate with the Democrat impeachment effort, promising to bring articles of impeachment to trial in the Senate should it pass within the House.

Only 19 Senators Are A “Firm No” Against Impeachment – And There Are Whispers Some Republicans May Turn On Trump

Anything could still happen in the weeks ahead

Michael Snyder | Economic Collapse - December 9, 2019 0 Comments

Link: https://www.infowars.com/only-19-se...-whispers-some-republicans-may-turn-on-trump/

It has been widely assumed that the Democrats could never possibly get the votes that they need to remove Donald Trump from office in the U.S. Senate, and so therefore the outcome of this entire saga is already a foregone conclusion. But what if that is not true?

In this article, you will see that only 19 members of the Senate are a “firm no” when it comes to impeachment, and 35 members have already publicly committed to convicting Trump. In the end, it is going to take 67 votes to remove Trump from office, and Democrats only control 47 seats. It was always going to be a monumental task to try to find 20 Republican members of the Senate willing to betray Trump, and it still doesn’t seem likely that we will get anywhere near that number. But there are whispers that at least some Republicans are currently very much up in the air regarding how they will vote.

On Friday, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy appeared on the “Morning Joe” program, and what he had to say is really shaking a lot of people up…

Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, told MSNBC’s Morning Joe program on Friday that he has spoken to GOP senators who are thinking of voting against Trump.

“It’s a small list on one hand,” Murphy said. “I don’t buy this secret ballot thing. If there was a secret ballot, there’d still be only a handful of them that would vote to impeach this guy.”

Up until now, most of us had assumed that Republicans in the Senate would unanimously stand behind Trump.

On the eve of the IG report’s release, Alex is wound tighter than a Tasmanian Devil

By the way, save money while improving your daily life by ordering the Change Your Life Trifecta Pack!

But according to Murphy, cracks are starting to form.

It is certainly possible that Murphy could be lying, but what purpose would he have for lying about these private conversations?

Of course we definitely are not talking about a long list of potential turncoats. In fact, he openly admitted that only a handful of Republicans are thinking this way…

When pressed, Murphy said that as it stands he thinks there are a maximum of five Republican senators willing to turn on the president: “I think that’s probably right.”

This is not a major crisis for the Trump White House yet, but it definitely has got to be alarming for any cracks to be forming at all at this stage.

So who specifically are we talking about here?

Well, it has been suggested that Susan Collins, Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowskiare all potential candidates to turn on Trump. In particular, Collins and Murkowski are essentially Democrats for all practical purposes, and so it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if either one of them turned on Trump. In fact, they both have voted against Trump in a number of high profile votes in recent years.

For Romney, this could be an opportunity for sweet revenge. Trump and Romney have exchanged insults for years, and Romney has already publicly referred to Trump’s dealings with Ukrainian officials as “troubling in the extreme”…

He has called Trump’s prodding of Ukrainian officials to investigate Biden “troubling in the extreme.” When the president also called on China to investigate Biden, Romney blasted the move as “wrong and appalling.”

Romney, 72, is seen as having the most freedom to vote to convict, as he made his concerns about the president’s character known during the 2016 primary, when he excoriated Trump as “a phony” and “a fraud” in a last ditch effort to deprive him of the nomination.

Needless to say, President Trump is deeply concerned about what could potentially happen in the weeks ahead, and he has been working very hard to court the support of his fellow Republicans in Congress…

Since the fall began, Trump has hosted more than 40 Republican senators, primarily for weekly lunches. The White House has also hosted Republican House members for weekends at Camp David, and Trump has brought lawmakers to several sporting events, including to the World Series in Washington and the Ultimate Fighting Championship in New York City.

But despite all of that effort, the outcome of the upcoming Senate trial is still surprisingly up in the air. Just check out the following numbers from Politico…

A tracker by Politico, which is evaluating the current position of each of the 100 senators, estimates that there are only 35 firm votes to remove Trump from office. A further 10 are down as probably, five maybe, 31 probably not, and 19 a firm no.

So why aren’t more Republicans in the Senate a “firm no”?

In fact, why aren’t virtually all of the Republicans in the Senate a “firm no”?

Something stinks about all of this. In Washington, far more goes on behind the scenes that most of us would dare to imagine. And a tremendous amount of pressure can be brought to bear on our representatives when very powerful people want them to vote a certain way.

I still think that it is extremely unlikely that pro-impeachment forces will get the 67 votes that they need in the Senate to remove Trump from office. And if it doesn’t look like there will be 67 votes, some Republicans that would be inclined to betray Trump may chicken out and decide that it isn’t worth the risk if the effort is not going to be successful.

But we definitely live in unprecedented times, and anything could still happen in the weeks ahead.

Top Democrats have indicated that they would like to have the full House vote on impeachment some time around Christmas, and so it looks like we could actually see the Senate trial happen in January…

The Senate’s legislative calendar, released Wednesday, includes an ominous blank spot for the month of January, a reminder that the proceedings surrounding impeachment are fluid. Although the details for an impeachment trial remain unclear, Senate Republicans said they can guarantee at least one thing: Trump’s defense will be heard.

Needless to say, the mainstream media is going to be relentlessly covering these proceedings, and the whole world will be watching.

But the most fascinating action will actually be going on behind the scenes.

Pro-impeachment forces will be working night and day to try to get the 67 votes that they need, and if the potential vote count starts to creep close to that number, that is when things are going to start getting really interesting.

Romney Says He Will Vote To Convict President Trump

RINO Utah senator once again sides with the Democrats, this time for historic impeachment vote

Jamie White | Infowars.com - February 5, 2020 14 Comments

Republican Utah Senator Mitt Romney announced on the Senate floor that he will vote to convict President Trump on the second article of impeachment on Wednesday.

“The grave question the Constitution tasks senators to answer is whether the president committed an act so extreme and egregious that it rises to the level of a ‘high crime and misdemeanor,'” Romney said. “Yes, he did.”

“The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust,” Romney continued. “What he did was not perfect. No, it was a flagrant assault on our electoral rights, our national security and our fundamental values. Corrupting an election to keep oneself in office is perhaps the most abusive and destructive violation of one’s oath of office that I can imagine.”

His break with the rest of the GOP isn’t so surprising given his disdain for and frequent betrayals of Trump in the past.

Romney’s latest betrayal came when he voted with the Democrats to seek additional witnesses in the impeachment trial last week, resulting in CPAC disinviting Romney from the annual conservative event this year.

Sean Davis of The Federalist noted that Romney’s vote to convict Trump despite not hearing from more witnesses he vote on just proves Romney was playing pure politics.

“Romney’s vote today also shows how dishonest his vote for witnesses was last week,” Davis tweeted. “He clearly didn’t believe more evidence or testimony was necessary since he’s voting to convict today. He just wanted a long, drawn-out process to damage his nemesis.”

Last fall, Romney revealed that he operated a secret Twitter account under the pseudonym “Pierre Delecto” for the sole purpose of disparaging Trump.

When Romney ran unsuccessfully for president in 2012, he sought and received Trump’s endorsement — he then denounced Trump in 2015.

Then when Romney ran for Senate in 2018, he again sought Trump’s endorsement — now he says he will vote to convict Trump in 2020.

I'm sure that's why he:

– sought Trump's endorsement in 2012
– denounced him in 2015
– sought his endorsement again in 2018
– and is now denouncing him again in 2020 https://t.co/MQatCzzImH

Democrats praise of Romney for his march and other stances he has taken against Trump and the administration ring hollow for many critics that point out Democrats routinely labeled Romney a pet-abuser and federal criminal during his 2012 run against former President Barack Obama.

Then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accused Romney of not paying taxes for a decade. Years later, Reid admitted he had lied about Romney but defended the lie as “one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

“Did I want to do that? No. I had the information, I tried to get somebody else to do it. I tried to get somebody in the Obama ‘reelect,’ I tried to get one of the senators, I tried to get one of the outside groups, but nobody would do it. So I did it,” Reid said. “And with that, like everything, I think in life, here’s something I learned from my father, if you’re going to do something, don’t do it half-assed, don’t play around. With the Mitt Romney stuff, I didn’t play around.”

Second Source: Mitt Romney Blocking Sen. Ron Johnson From Subpoenaing Comey, Brennan… To Protect Paul Singer

August 14, 2020

Link: http://www.cuzzblue.com/2020/08/second-source-mitt-romney-blocking-sen.html

On Wednesday, a Senior Republican Senate source told Gateway Pundit that Senator Mitt Romney is leading an effort to block Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Ron Johnson from subpoenaing James Comey and John Brennan.

“Romney was for impeachment. He has been against Trump every step of the way. Now he is obstructing going after the leakers and liars who went after Trump,” the initial senior senate source said on Wednesday.

“It’s pretty simple. Romney is covering for the role his billionaire supporter Paul Singer played in pushing the Fusion GPS dossier,” the source said.

Of course, before the dossier was ever written and got into the hands of the Clinton campaign, Fusion GPS research was financed by the neoconservative outlet the Washington Free Beacon, which is funded largely by Singer, as opposition material for the Republican primary. One of the sources mentioned that this could potentially be messy for certain members of the GOP.

A source with detailed knowledge of committee rules explained that while Senator Johnson may have consent to subpoena anyone he wants on paper, there was likely an agreement made prior to the committee approving the investigation. He explained that it is likely that Johnson agreed not to subpoena certain high profile individuals without unanimous consent.

He believes that Johnson accidentally said too much when he told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that he was being blocked.

“We had a number of my committee members that were highly concerned about how this looks politically,” Johnson told Hewitt, who pressed the Senator to name the Republicans blocking him.

“Hugh, I’m just not going to be naming names that way,” Johnson replied.

The Committee gave Ron Johnson unilateral subpoena power in June of this year.

Johnson is now back peddling and claiming that he does have the subpoena power, but that he wants to get the documents naturally without having to subpoena them.

“We have a committee process and I respect that,” Johnson told Martha MacAllum on Fox News, adding that he wants to respect the “legitimate concerns” some committee members have.

Utah Senator Mitt Romney Knifes Trump in The Back Once Again, This Time Over Universal Mail-In Voting (5 Cartoons)

Once again, Utah Senator Mitt Romney and chief GOP quisling tried to knife President Trump in the back, this time over universal mail in voting.

Via USA Today:

Sen. Mitt Romney defended mail-in voting Friday night in the wake of President Donald Trump’s attacks on the system, calling his opposition to it “a political calculation.”

The Utah Republican also criticized the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, saying “the health impact of COVID-19 on our country and our response to it was really very, very disappointing.”

Romney, who has been a vocal critic of Trump throughout his tenure as president, stopped short of naming him outright in his interview with the Sutherland Institute, a conservative think tank based in Utah.

During the interview, Romney referenced evidence that mail-in voting as a system does not increase the likelihood of voter fraud, despite Trump’s recent attacks on its legitimacy, for which he offers no evidence.

“In the case of voting by mail, the good news is if there was some allegation of impropriety, you’d be able to get the ballots and look at them,” Romney said.

“This is a political calculation,” the former presidential candidate said in addressing the claim that Trump doesn’t want Americans to vote by mail because he thinks “polls show that people who want to vote by mail tend to vote for Vice President Biden.”

Romney warned of the consequences of elected officials interfering with the voting process, and beyond.

“When politicians attack a judicial system, attack a voting system … attack of free press, these things threaten the foundation upon which not only our own democracy but democracies around the world,” he said.

Utah Senator and fake conservative Mitt Romney is the worst kind of Republican and I’m sad I ever voted for him for President in 2012.

He’s bitter and jealous that President Trump sits in the oval office and not him, so he acts like a jilted teenage lover, or worse.

The people of the state of Utah deserve better than him, and America deserves better so lets hope Mitt Romney gets what he deserves when he next comes up for re-election.

Or better yet, if Mitt Romney was an honest man, he’d switch parties since he is practically a Democrat anyway.

Mitt Romney Slams Hunter Biden, Burisma Probe: ‘Not Legitimate Role of Government to be Used as an Effort to Damage Political Opponents’

Mitt Romney, AKA Pierre Delecto on Wednesday slammed the Hunter Biden, Burisma investigation as a ‘political exercise’

“It is not the legitimate role of government, for Congress or for taxpayer expense, to be used as an effort to damage political opponents,” Romney said blasting the Senate Homeland Security Committee’s probe into Hunter Biden’s dealings with Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings.

This coming from a guy who voted in favor of the Ukraine impeachment coup against President Trump that was designed to protect Biden and Burisma!

Fox News reported:

GOP Sen. Mitt Romney on Wednesday slammed the Senate Homeland Security Committee’s investigation into Hunter Biden’s role on the board of Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings, saying it is “not the legitimate role of government” to work to “damage political opponents.”

During a committee meeting Wednesday, members voted to authorize a slew of subpoenas for testimony and records from former Obama administration officials, including former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, as part of its investigation into the origins of the Russia probe.

The panel is also leading an investigation into potential conflicts of interest related to Burisma and Hunter Biden.

But Romney, R-Utah, suggested the committee, led by Chairman Ron Johnson, R-Wis., was using its probe in an effort to “damage” political opponents.

“I know the committee has undertaken two major investigations [that have] political implications and one, of course, is the, I’ll call it the Biden/Burisma investigation,” Romney said. “And that, I think, from the outset had the earmarks of a political exercise and I’m fearful that comments made in the media recently have only confirmed that perspective.”

Romney made similar statements about the Biden, Burisma probe back in March as Senate Republicans mulled over issuing subpoenas seeking Biden-Burisma documents.

“There’s no question that the appearance of looking into Burisma and Hunter Biden appears political… We also have a lot of work to do on matters that are not related to Burisma. We probably ought to focus on those things,” Mitt Romney told reporters earlier this year.

Romney doesn’t want any investigation into Burisma despite overwhelming evidence of a massive money laundering scheme.

So why would Romney defend the Bidens’ corruption and involvement with Burisma?

Because Romney’s advisor Joseph Cofer Black joined the board of Burisma Holdings while Hunter Biden was also serving on the board.

Mitt Romney Caught Taking Big Money Donations from George Soros Org

Republican Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) has been caught taking large donations from globalist billionaire George Soros’ organization, Soros Fund Management, financial records have revealed.

Political figures who have received money from Soros include Democrat powerhouses such as former President Barack Obama, Sen. Chuck Schumer, former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and others.

Disturbingly, back in 2012, George Soros said he saw little difference between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, and it has now been revealed that Romney is on George Soros’ payroll.

The Utahn senator stunned everyone when he became the only Republican to vote to convict President Donald Trump in the recent Democrat-led impeachment sham.

Does his decision to accept Soros’ dark money donations explain his decision?

According to OpenSecrets.org, Romney has accepted at least $17,500 from Soros Fund Management, a left-wing influence operation funded by notorious globalist billionaire George Soros.

And that’s just the donations that were declared publicly. Who knows how much money was funneled to him by the man who broke the Bank of England, was declared a “financial terrorist” in Malaysia and found guilty of insider trading in Europe.

George Soros, who considers himself a God, has no respect for the law and does not play by the rules. By siding with Soros and accepting his dark money, Romney has lost the right to be trusted.

Remarkably for a so-called Republican, Romney actually makes it into the top 20 of compromised politicians who have accepted money from Soros Fund Management.

It seems that Republicans have had enough from Mitt Romney.

First, he was notified by a tweet from Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) chair Matt Schlapp that he was “not invited” to the annual conference after being one of two Republicans in the Senate to vote to call additional witnesses in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

“The ‘extreme conservative’ and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, @SenatorRomney is formally NOT invited to #CPAC2020,” Schlapp tweeted.

And now a Utah lawmaker has filed a bill to allow Utahns to recall an elected United States senator.

Deseret News reports:

The lawmaker, Rep. Tim Quinn, R-Heber City, told the Deseret News in an interview Wednesday shortly after the bill was made public that it’s not meant to target any specific sitting Utah senator — but it comes amid heightened national attention on Sen. Mitt Romney, who has been among the few Republican senators publicly critical of President Donald Trump.

Romney in recent days has ignited simmering controversy over whether to bring additional witnesses and documents into the impeachment trial against Trump. Yet Quinn said his bill isn’t aimed at Romney or any specific senator — though he acknowledged his bill comes at a time that people will likely construe it that way.

“I know that’s what’s going to be the narrative,” Quinn said.

“If it were, then it might make sense to have a sunset on it. That would not be the case.”

Mitt Romney slams 'vile, hate-filled politics' and pleads with Donald Trump to 'tone it down' after calling Kamala Harris a 'monster' saying 'the world is watching with abject horror'

Mitt Romney slammed the 'vile' and 'hate-filled' politics in America on Tuesday and asked President Donald Trump to 'tone it down' when it comes to his fiery rhetoric.

His plea came with less than three weeks to go before Election Day and after the president spent the morning in a Twitter fury - attacking political foes and the media in a storm of tweets. Trump also drug Romney into the matter, pointing to a clip of Joe Biden struggling to remember the Republican senator's name to argue Biden has diminished mental capabilities.

In his 250-word missive, Romney attacked Republicans and Democrats alike for the vitriol but noted there was exception - Joe Biden.

'I'm troubled by our politics as it has moved away from spirited debate to a vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass that is unbecoming of any free nation – let alone the birthplace of modern democracy,' Romney wrote in a statement he posted to Twitter.

Mitt Romney praised Joe Biden because he doesn't 'stoop as low as others'

Romney slammed President Trump for calling Kamala Harris a 'monster'

Romney criticized Speaker Nancy Pelosi for tearing up the text of President Trump's State of the Union speech and he slammed President Trump for calling Kamala Harris a 'monster'

He went on to attack Republicans and Democrats alike.

He slammed President Trump for calling Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris a 'monster' and for labeling Speaker Nancy Pelosi as 'crazy.' Trump made the remarks about Harris in an interview with Fox Business after the vice presidential debate and he's referred to Pelosi as 'crazy' multiple times on twitter and in interviews.

But Romney didn't let Pelosi off the hook. He criticized the speaker for tearing up the text of President Trump's State of the Union address in January.

Romney didn't mention Biden by name in his rare bit of praise but it was obvious who he meant when he noted the Democrats' 'presidential nominee' doesn't 'stoop as low as others.'

'Democrats launch blistering attacks of their own – though their presidential nominee refuses to stoop as low as others,' he wrote.

Romney went on to remind America's political leaders the world was watching with 'abject horror' as November 3 approaches.

'The world is watching America with abject horror; more consequentially, our children are watching. Many Americans are frightened for our country – so divided, so angry, so mean, so violent,' he noted.

'It is time to lower the heat. Leaders must tone it down. Leaders from the top and leaders of all stripes. Parents, bosses, reporters, columnists, professors, union chiefs, everyone. The consequence of the crescendo of anger leads to a very bad place. No sane person can want that,' he concluded.

Romney has tangled with Trump on many occasions, and, ahead of the 2016 election gave a major speech denouncing his candidacy. He said he wrote in the name of his wife, Anne Romney, on the presidential ticket that year.

He has not said how he'll vote in the 2020 election.

The Republican senator from Utah also voted to convict Trump on one article of impeachment - the only member of the president's party to break ranks.

Trump has attacked Romney in return.

And, on Tuesday, the president brought Romney into his latest attack on Biden.

He claimed that since Biden couldn't remember Romney's name Monday when referencing the Republican senator, he must have dementia.

'Mitt can't be thrilled about this! Joe also said yesterday he's running for the U.S. Senate (again) and totally forgot where he was (wrong State!),' the president wrote in an early morning Twitter rampage, pointing to other gaffes from the former vice president on the campaign trail.

Trump added: 'Joe has never been a nice or kind guy, so it's easier to find this obvious & rapidly getting worse 'dementia' unacceptable for USA!'

The president linked to video of Biden speaking to reporters Monday about the confirmation hearing for Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

He said the mother of seven should not have to face questions over her religion from senators who claim she won't be able to separate her morals – as a devout Catholic – from her position on the Supreme Court.

'No, I don't think there should be any questions about her faith,' Biden said, adding a personal anecdote about the time he and President Barack Obama ran against Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

'I got in trouble when we were running against the senator who was a Mormon—the governor,' Biden said of Romney's religion.

Romney also served as governor of Massachusetts.

Biden gaffes about running for Senate and forgets Romney's name

Trump launched an early morning Twitter spree on Tuesday where he sent out more than 50 tweets and retweets in less than two hours.

During Trump's rally in Florida Monday night, he mocked his Democrat rival for stating he was 'running for Senate' – using the momentary lapse as more evidence of his claim that Biden is unfit for office.

Trump, 74, has made the age and frequent gaffes of Biden, 77, a recurrent line of attack in his campaign against the former vice president.

Campaigning in Toledo, Ohio on Monday, Biden provided the president with yet more fodder as he addressed United Auto Workers who represent a local General Motors powertrain plant.

Biden spoke in a parking lot with about 30 American-made cars and trucks arrayed nearby.

'You know, we have to come together. That's why I'm running. I'm running as a proud Democrat for the Senate, when I ran as a proud Democrat for vice president, and I'm running as a proud Democrat for president,' Biden said.

'But I promise you this, I will govern as an American president.'

The former vice president was a longtime senator from Delaware.

Trump mocks Biden for saying he's running for 'Senate' at rally

The president, who was in Sanford, Florida on Monday night for a campaign rally, went to town on Biden's gaffe.

'Sleepy Joe Biden, not a nice guy, by the way. He had a very bad day today,' Trump said.

'If I ever had a day like he had today, they'd say: 'It's over. It's over.'

'He forgot Mitt Romney's name. He didn't know what state he was in. And he said today he's a proud Democrat running for the US Senate.'

Trump joked: 'Could you imagine if I did that? 'Great to be with you. It's great to be a wonderful developer from New York.' They'd say: 'he's out of here. Get him out.''

Biden 'has got a lot of bad days coming,' Trump predicted.
