Coroner Labels Killing A 'Child Abuse Homicide'
NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police on Friday arrested a man in connection with the death of a 20-month-old boy.
Larry Lawrence, 37, of 4215 North Robertson St., was booked with the first-degree murder of Lionel Freeman Jr. The baby died Thursday shortly after arriving at University Hospital.
An autopsy showed the baby died of blunt-force injuries to the abdomen and internal bleeding. Orleans Parish Coroner Frank
Minyard classified the death as a child-abuse homicide.
Police said the baby was injured Thursday morning at Lawrence's home. Someone called an ambulance, but police spokesman Garry Flot said th

by was unresponsive.
Police said Lawrence is not related to the baby or his mother, but t
he woman and child were living with Lawrence's family.
Flot said Lawrence was arrested after being questioned at police headquarters.
