A suspect was arrested in connection with a Manhattan hit-and-run crash that killed “Gone Girl” actress Lisa Banes.

Brian Boyd,
26, an Upper West Sider who lives on the same corner as the deadly June 4 collision, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, law enforcement sources said.

Patrol cops who recognized Boyd from a wanted poster made the arrest, according to the sources

Banes suffered a deadly traumatic brain injury when she was hit by a red and black Fairthorpe motorcycle allegedly manned by Boyd on Amsterdam Avenue at West 64th Street.

The 65-year-old actress was visiting from Los Angeles, and on her way to meet a friend for dinner.

Banes, a Juilliard graduate, graced Broadway stages, appeared on TV shows like “One Life to Live,” and “Nashville,” and was Tom Cruise’s older love interest in the film “Cocktail.”

She was perhaps best known for her role in the 2014 murder mystery “Gone Girl,” where she portrayed the mother of the missing woman, played by Rosamund Pike.

Banes read the script and thought, “‘Oh, I’m right for this,’” she said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards.

“She was very, very friendly and very loyal to her friends. If you made a friend with her, you made a friend for life,” friend Cynthia Crossen told The Post.

“She was warm and generous and kind and beautiful and funny and the life of the party, but also sympathetic and empathetic.”

The man accused in the hit-and-run crash that killed “Gone Girl” actress Lisa Banes was slapped Monday with upgraded charges — including homicide, which could land him in prison for up to 15 years.
Brian Boyd, 26, who allegedly mowed down Banes on an electric scooter June 4 on the Upper West Side before fleeing, pleaded not guilty Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court to a five count-indictment.
The new charges are second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and failure of a driver to exercise due care. If convicted, he could get as little as no jail time or a maximum of five to 15 years in prison.
Boyd was initially arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and failure to yield to a pedestrian.
Surveillance video shows that Banes, best known for her role in the 2014 murder mystery “Gone Girl,” had the walk signal when she stepped into the crosswalk on Amsterdam Avenue at West 64th Street and was struck by Boyd, who had blown through a red light, court papers allege.

Banes and Boyd tumbled to the ground, the footage allegedly shows. Boyd stood up, picked up his scooter, walked over to the 65-year-old actress “lying face-down and bleeding from the head” then drove away, according to the criminal complaint.
The Juilliard graduate was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital where she died 10 days later of a traumatic brain injury.
Banes, who has graced Broadway stages and played Tom Cruise’s older love interest in the film “Cocktail,” was visiting from Los Angeles and on her way to meet a friend for dinner.

After the deadly accident, Boyd rode to Bolt Bike Shop in Harlem to have the scooter repaired, the complaint alleges.
Boyd was arrested in August when patrol cops recognized him from a wanted poster.
He is being held in lieu of $30,000 cash bail.

The unlicensed moped driver who killed “Gone Girl” actress Lisa Banes in a hit-and-run last year was branded “a danger to anyone in New York City” by the victim’s wife on Wednesday — as a Manhattan judge sent him to prison for up to three years
Brian Boyd, 27, who pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the case in September, was sentenced to one-to-three years behind bars in the June 4, 2021 collision that left the popular 65-year-old actress mortally injured.
“Boyd is a danger to anyone in New York City,” Banes’ wife Kathryn Kranhold said during the hearing. “Anyone crossing the street with the right of way.”
She said “my life stopped” when Banes died after 10 days in a coma.
The actress had been on her way to meet her wife for dinner on the Upper West Side when she was hit at West 64th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
“When she didn’t show up for dinner at 6:30 I waited a few minutes,” Kranhold said in Manhattan Supreme Court. “My friends reassured me she was fine.

“I fled their apartment and I fled down Broadway. I panicked. I called her. I texted her,” she said. “Little did I know a block away she was being taken into an ambulance.”
Boyd, who did not have a license and was driving an unregistered moped, got back on the bike and fled the scene, authorities said.
“Lisa was lying on the ground with her head bleeding and he cared more about his bike,” Kranhold said. “We know he didn’t turn himself in… Lisa saw him coming at her but she couldn’t move fast enough — no one can move that fast.”

Boyd was arrested and charged in the fatal incident two months later.

In court Wednesday, he claimed he tried to slow down before the collision.

“I did beep my horn,” he told Justice Gregory Carro. “I did slow down.”

But the judge was having none of it.

“You know what? I’ll give you your plea back,” Carro snapped. “You want to go to trial?”

Boyd indicated he did not.

“He has not learned anything from this experience,” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Erin LaFarge said. “And that is a terrifying thought.”

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg called the incident tragic.

“Lisa Banes was a beloved friend, family, and community member whose life was tragically cut short,” Bragg said in a statement. “New York City continues to mourn her loss with them and it is my sincere hope that her loved ones are able to heal and recover.”

Banes was best known for her role in “Gone Girl” alongside Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike and also appeared in the 1998 Ton Cruise film “Cocktail.”

She was a former Broadway actress and graduate of The Julliard School in Manhattan.
