Man’s attempt to mow down pedestrians outside Paris mosque fails

A man tried to plow his car into people outside a Paris mosque Thursday in a reported effort to “avenge” recent terrorist attacks — but rammed it into barriers designed to protect worshippers instead
, according to local reports.
Cops arrested the man, whose name hasn’t been released, after he “repeatedly struck the blocks and barriers placed to protect the mosque” in the suburb of Créteil, the Independent reports.
No one was injured, police said.
Cops haven’t given an official motive for his failed rampage, but a source told newspaper Le Parisien that he was trying to “avenge the Bataclan and Champs-Elysees” attacks, per the Independent.
The attempt comes a month after British man Darren Osborne allegedly plowed his van into pedestrians outside a London mosque — killing one man and injuring nine.
