5-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured After Falling Out Of Second-Floor Bedroom Window In City, Police Say

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A 5-year-old boy was critically injured after police say he fell out of a second-floor bedroom window in Center City. The incident happened shortly before 3 p.m. on the 2300 block of Naudain Street on Sunday.

Police say the boy was rushed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in a private vehicle after the fall.

He was placed in critical condition at the hospital.

“It happened in seconds. Little guy just climbed quickly,” Judith Parker, a neighbor, said. “The good news, I guess, there was not a drop of blood. There was no noise at all from him. I think that was what was the most terrifying. Once his father was able to lift him and got him to begin to crying, we all felt crying babies aren’t dead babies.”

There is no word on if the incident was an accident or if someone may be held criminally liable.

Dramatic video shows turdler climbing outside 13th-floor Bronx apartment window

Dramatic video captures the moment a turdler boy climbed on an air-conditioning unit outside the open window of the family’s 13th-story Bronx apartment — to the horror of bystanders more than 100 feet below.

The video, taken on Saturday, opens with the tot flailing one of his arms around as he sits atop the air conditioner affixed to a window on the 13th floor of the Butler Houses building on Webster Avenue in Claremont.

“Oh my God! Catch him! Run! Hurry up!” one witness can be heard yelling in the video, which was shot around 7 p.m. — just as first responders were arriving, witnesses and fire officials said.

“Where the hell are these parents?” another chimed in.

At one point, the little boy appears to lean over — sparking terrified screams from people gathered on the street — before he crawls back into the window. Wailing sirens can be heard in the background.

Jennifer Mares, 29, who lives in the next building and was in the playground with her own 3-year-old son at the time, watched the horrifying incident unfold and called 911.

After the tot was back in the home, Mares said, she rushed up the stairs with two housing workers.

“The mom cracked open the door a little bit and we bum-rushed the door,” she told The Post. “There was a mother, father, an older sister around 15 and another baby laying on the couch around 1 year old. They didn’t even know!”

Not even 24 hours later, Mares saw the little boy on top of the AC unit once again, she said. :D

“I was coming home from the store around 11:55 — just before noon,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it. He was back out on the window. The cops and the firemen went up [to the apartment] after they pulled the baby back in.”

Another neighbor said the family had lived in the home for about five months.

“[The family is] new,” said the woman, who also lives on the 13th floor. “They don’t really talk to anyone.”

The FDNY confirmed that it responded to the address just before 7 p.m. Saturday for a “jumper” at the window. That person was transported to Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in unknown condition. The next day just before noon, the FDNY again responded to a “jumper” who went back in the window, authorities said.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether these calls were about the toddler.

By Monday morning, the air conditioner was removed from the window and window guards were put up.

The Administration for Children’s Services did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Building owner failed to install window bars at site of toddler’s fatal fall: suit

Just two days after Lareece Williams Jr. took the fatal fall from his bedroom window at Linden Plaza in East New York, the toddler’s grieving parents filed suit in Brooklyn Supreme Court against the building’s owner alleging that it is responsible for the child’s tragic death. :no2:

By city law, landlords are required to install bars on the windows of buildings where there are three or more apartments and children who are 10 years old or younger are residing there — even on the first floor.

Not only did the window for Lareece’s bedroom lack bars but it also failed to close all the way, said Donte Mills, a nigger lawyer for the Williams family.

“The action they were required to provide, they failed to provide,” Mills said.

Mills said the family contacted their building manager at least 10 times over the last year and a half about Lareece’s window, including two written formal notices and multiple calls and visits to the rental office in their building.

Just after Lareece’s fall, the city’s Health Department investigated the lack of bars at the Williams’ apartment — and the day after Lareece’s death, bars were installed on his bedroom window. :p

“It makes it worse to show that all it takes is one day to fix this repair,” Mills said.

Linden Plaza Housing Co., which is named in the lawsuit, could not be reached for comment. A message left with RY Management, which manages the property, was not returned.

In an interview with The Post, Lareece Williams, the deceased boy’s father, recounted the heartbreaking story of his son’s last moments.

He said his two sons were napping in the bedroom at around 11 a.m. on Monday when he heard people screaming from downstairs.

Williams said he ran to his sons’ room and saw only their youngest. He rushed downstairs, where he saw a crowd standing around and saw Lareece on the ground “fighting to live.”

“When I came downstairs he was still breeving, he was still fighting for his life,” the father said. “And I had to lose him like this.”

The 7-year-old Bronx boy who survived a harrowing nine-story fall from his family’s apartment last week has died as a result of his injuries, his mother told The Post Thursday.

Rossy Mancebo said her son, Kingston, died shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, and that the family is donating his organs because it was “the right thing to do.”

“I feel that it’s important, to preserve one’s sanity,” Mancebo said. “And if you believe in God, that is the right thing to do.”

“Yes, this is the worst tragedy of my life,” she said. “But he would have wanted it that way as well.”

She said her son “gave me purpose.”

The boy, known as King to neighbors, had been in the pediatric intensive care unit at Jacobi Medical Center since the Nov. 9 fall at Bronx River Houses.

King, who has Down syndrome, plummeted to the ground after he climbed through cardboard covering the left side of a bedroom window that had an air conditioning unit in it.

Neighbors said he suffered a broken leg and severe head injuries.

The boy lived in the ninth-floor apartment with his mother, grandmother, and two older sisters, who are 13 and 14 years old, friends and neighbors said.

The family will hold a vigil outside the building at 1435 Harrod Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

SOUNDVIEW, The Bronx (WABC) -- A vigil was held in the Bronx to remember a 7-year-old boy who died after falling out a window.

For Kingston 'King' ;)Spencer's mother, Rossey Mancebo, there was also a bit of solace in the most painful moment of her life. When doctors told her that her son didn't make it, she made the most heart-wrenching decision - she chose to give Kingston's organs to those in need, so they can live.

A 3-year-old boy with Down syndrome fell five stories from his Bronx building Monday — breaking his thigh bone, according to cops and police sources.

The child’s mother told investigators he pushed on a piece of cardboard next to the air conditioner in the apartment on East Tremont Avenue near Benson Street in Westchester Square around 1 p.m. Monday and fell out the window.

The child struck a store awning on the way down and landed on the ground, police sources said.

NJ toddler dies after falling from window — and being mauled by family’s dogs
By Craig McCarthy
June 11, 2021 | 3:19pm | Updated

A 3-year-old New Jersey boy died after falling 10 feet from a window at his home — and being mauled by the family’s dogs in the back yard, officials said.

The boy was critically injured by the time cops arrived at the Elizabeth home in the 400 block of South Fifth Street around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. He died an hour later at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, authorities said.

The family’s dogs, which were in their fenced-in back yard, were taken by a local animal control agency.

The dogs, which neighbors said were pit bulls, were expected to be euthanized, NJ.com said.

“The dogs are currently quarantined, and the city is moving towards euthanizing them,” Elizabeth spokeswoman Kelly Martins told the site.

It was unclear how the child fell. His name was not released.

No criminal charges have been filed, and cops said they are still investigating the incident.

A 4-year-old boy was in critical condition after falling from the 10th floor balcony of a Bronx building on Saturday, police said.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. at 1500 Noble Ave. in the Van Nest section of the borough, according to police, who said the plunge appeared to be an accident.

“I heard a girl screaming. And I saw him right there, unconscious,” said witness Nataly Rojas, 11, who pointed to a tree behind the building. “It’s scary, it’s traumatizing.”

A neighbor saw the child being loaded into an ambulance and a “frantic” woman standing near the vehicle, which rushed the boy to Jacobi Hospital.

“I just hope the baby is OK,” the neighbor said.

Maria Rivera reacts after hearing her grandson, Daniel Galeas, fell out of a 4th floor Manhattan window

A 3-year-old boy who may have been jumping on a bed fell from a fourth-floor window in Harlem Friday morning, according to authorities and his grandmother.
The tot, identified as Daniel Galeas, plummeted from a fourth-floor bedroom window — and a building super found him on the ground at the rear of the building around 10:20 a.m., cops said.
Daniel’s grandmother, Maria Rivera, wept while talking to reporters outside the home.

“I don’t know,” said Rivera, who came to Harlem from Brooklyn after hearing what had happened. “I think the boys jump in the bed.”
The boy’s 28-year-old aunt was babysitting him when he fell from the window. It was unclear whether the aunt or anyone else was in the room when the toddler fell to his death.
Other children as old as 12 and some younger than little Daniel were inside the home — all siblings and cousins, WNBC reported.
In a photo shown to reporters by a building manager, a bed was right next to the window, which held an air conditioning unit.

The unit was supported by pieces of cardboard on either side — one of which was pushed out.
Daniel — who would have turned 4 on Monday — was taken “unconscious and unresponsive” to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The incident appears to be an accident, but remains under investigation, cops said.

A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized after falling nine stories from his apartment window in The Bronx on Friday, police said.
The tot slipped out at around 5:45 p.m., through an opening cops believe had previously housed an air conditioning unit in NYCHA’s Forest Houses on Trinity Ave near E. 165th Street in Morrisania, the NYPD said.
The boy’s mother and an 11-year-old girl were present at the time. He was taken to Harlem hospital in critical condition, but was expected to survive, police said.
Neighbors told News 12 they heard the mom screaming “Help, my son fell out of the window.”
First responders to arrive had to use a bolt cutter to get through a fence and into an enclosed area where the child had fallen.
“It’s heartbreaking,” neighbor Theresa Marti told the outlet. “Just to be a parent and to scream out ‘Hepp, mah niglet done fell out da window.’”
