A Texas mother was behind bars after she allegedly assaulted her teenage son at his school and got into a verbal spat with staff, authorities said.
Around 8:30 a.m. on May 3, an officer from the Wichita Falls ISD Police Department was called to Barwise Middle School after a report of a disturbance, KFDX/KJTL reported.
The officer said that when he arrived, he observed Teresa Fondren, 43, in a verbal dispute in the school’s entryway with staff and a boy who was later identified as her 14-year-old son.
The officer claimed Fondren was yelling and verbally aggressive and he told her she was not allowed to take the boy from the school.
According to the officer, Fondren continued to yell, claimed she wouldn’t return to the school to pick up either the teenager or his two brothers, and got into her vehicle and peeled out of the parking lot.
The assistant principal alleged Fondren’s son was in his office when the mother arrived and started repeatedly punching the child in the face with her keys in hand, giving him a knot on his head and scratched nose, police said.
Video allegedly backs up the assistant principal’s account of the incident, according to police.
Fondren faces a charge of injury to a child.
