According to investigators, she was involved in a verbal dispute with Lamount Tavius Lubin, 32, that escalated into a physical confrontation Friday night at a home near S.W. 260th Street and S.W. 137th Avenue. That’s when, police say, Lubin grabbed a gun and shot her in the face.

NEW ORLEANS – Billie Ray Jacobs’ relatives tried to make contact with him for days but were met with silence and excuses each time.

Once police made their way into the home in the 2000 block of Dumaine Street, they found a large knife next to Jacobs, two dogs that had minor stab wounds and a handwritten note from 62-year-old Brenda Jacobs, stating that the couple would lose the house and become homeless. Finally, they arrived at his Treme home last Friday and spotted his lifeless body, covered in dry blood, slumped over a table as his distraught wife lay in a side yard.

Brenda Jacobs wrote that she killed her husband and tried to kill their dogs and herself “so that they could be at peace,” according to an arrest warrant.

The home, which had been listed as delinquent on tax bills since February, was the same place where she killed another husband 25 years ago.

The most recent killing apparently happened sometime last week.

Billie Ray Jacobs’ relatives had tried to get in touch with him since at least Wednesday.

After they couldn’t find him then, they went to his home on Thursday and saw the 64-year-old man seated at the kitchen table, albeit slumped, according to the warrant.

Husband doused wife, set her on fire, Hueytown police say

A Hueytown man doused his wife with a flammable liquid and set her on fire during a fight at their family home, police said.

Authorities today announced charges against 38-year-old Manfred McCarroll. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $180,000.

Hueytown police and firefighters were called to the family's house on Newport Drive about 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 28, said Sgt. Mark Didcoct. They were dispatched there on a report of a house fire, but soon learned there was more.

Inside they found McCarroll and his wife, both badly burned. Both were taken to UAB's Trauma and Burn Intensive Care Unit. After questioning, detectives learned that the fire erupted during an argument between McCarroll and his 40-year-old wife.

Didcoct said the argument was the result of an ongoing dispute. McCarroll used a flammable household liquid to torch his wife, police said. He, too, was burned when he set her on fire, Didcoct said. The couple's three school-age children were home at the time, but weren't injured.

Cops: Mother of 8 killed by ex after fight over diaper money

PITTSBURGH, PA --
A single mother of eight young children :rolleyes:was shot to death by an ex-boyfriend during an argument over money for diapers and baby wipes, police said in a criminal complaint.

Markese Reese, 20, of Penn Hills, was arrested late Tuesday and jailed without bond on a charge of criminal homicide in the death of 28-year-old Marqua Wilson, of Pittsburgh.

Allegheny County court records show Wilson had obtained a protection-from-abuse order against Reese in 2013, identifying him as the father of one of her children and saying he had been physically abusive when they lived together in McKeesport, a Pittsburgh suburb. Reese was charged with violating that order in October 2014 by breaking into her home and throwing things, then stabbing her in the arm with a grill fork when she tried to leave.

Online court records show burglary and other charges filed in the 2014 incident were withdrawn, but it wasn't clear why. Courts were closed Wednesday for Veterans Day, and the actual documents could not be accessed.

Despite that history, Wilson allowed Reese to visit Sunday night into Monday, when he brought baby supplies and some marijuana to her home, authorities said.

The complaint indicates a witness was drinking wine and vodka with Wilson before Reese arrived.

Reese and Wilson argued Sunday night when he asked her to reimburse him for the baby supplies, saying the money was supposed to have been spent on marijuana, the complaint said. The adults went to bed at about 2 a.m. Monday after Wilson agreed to repay Reese, but the argument resumed after they woke up about 10 a.m., :rolleyes:the complaint said.

According to the complaint, Reese choked Wilson, so the witness took Wilson's children downstairs while the argument raged on the second floor. The witness then heard a "loud 'boom'" and Reese ran down the stairs with a bloody shirt and hands, saying he and Wilson had been fighting, the complaint said. When the witness went next door to call 911, Reese ran away, police said.

Police tried to track down Reese and even sought to negotiate his surrender over the phone. According to the complaint, Reese told police: "We were struggling over the gun and it accidentally went off and I ran."

Wilson died of a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Reese denied killing Wilson as reporters peppered him with questions as he was led from police headquarters Tuesday.

"I didn't kill the mother of my child," Reese said. "I loved her.";)

Wilson's family has set up a gofundme.com page to raise money for her funeral expenses. Authorities have said Wilson's children are all younger than 13.

Woman pleads guilty in boyfriend's 2013 death

2/17/16

A Gary woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter and battery by means of a deadly weapon in exchange for a 15-year prison sentence.

Santrina Nicole Echols, 43, admitted in court that she suffocated her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Clester Sims, and that she battered his new girlfriend with a "blackjack" at a motorcycle club house a couple of weeks before Sims was killed.

Sims, 37, who had been convicted on June 4, 2013, of misdemeanor battery involving Echols as the victim, had arrived at Echols' home in the 1400 block of West 16th Avenue in Gary in the early morning hours of July 13, 2013. Echols was aware that Sims had started a new relationship and that he had spent July 12 into July 13, 2013, with the other woman.

When police and coroner's personnel arrived at Echols' home, they found Sims face down across a bed with a telephone cord piled loosely near his right hip. An autopsy at the Lake County coroner's office determined Sims was smothered and strangled.

Woman charged with killing ex over unpaid cable bill
updated April 8, 2016 at 12:00 AM

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls woman, who allegedly confronted her former boyfriend over an unpaid cable TV bill and ended up stabbing him to death, pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Chamia N. Johnson, 34, of Seventh Street, denied the charge of second-degree murder. State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. ordered Johnson held without bail, pending a pretrial conference June 9 and a tentative trial date of Sept. 19.

Antoine Mallory, 39, was stabbed once in the chest in his home in the Monteagle Ridge Apartments in Niagara Falls on the night of Feb. 22. He was pronounced dead in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

Deputy District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said Mallory fathered two of Johnson’s four children, and supposedly had agreed to pay Johnson’s cable bill.

“She went there to complain about the cable bill not being paid,” Hoffmann said. “His cable bill was paid, because in the crime scene photos, the TV is on.”

The alleged murder weapon, a folding knife Johnson brought with her, was thrown away after Johnson fled the scene, Hoffmann told Kloch. Johnson turned herself in to Falls police the next day.
