When deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office found two men and a woman dead in the parking lot of Corky Bell's Seafood restaurant in East Palatka on Wednesday night, Sgt. Hancel Woods said it "quickly unfolded that it was a domestic-related murder-suicide."

Witnesses told investigators that Johnny Kemp, 30, approached shot his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend, Detret Burley, and her boyfriend, 40-year-old Travis Hall, as they drove into the parking lot about 6:45 p.m. According to the Sheriff's Office, Kemp shot them, then immediately turned the gun on himself.

A boy stabbed his teenage brother to death Wednesday morning in south suburban South Chicago Heights, police said.

Officers responded to the domestic violence incident in the 100 block of West 29th Street about 7:15 a.m., South Chicago Heights Police Chief Bill Joyce said.

Larry J. Miles, 16, was pronounced dead at his home at 8:20 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The teen was fatally stabbed by his 14-year-old brother, who is in custody Wednesday afternoon and charges are pending, Joyce said.

Slain pastor's son arrested in Mississippi, charged with murder

HOUSTON -

The son of a slain pastor, whose wife and 5-year-old son were also killed, was arrested in Mississippi and charged with murder.

Isaac Tiharihondi was taken into custody around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in Jackson, Mississippi, by FBI agents. Jackson police said he was arrested at the Diamond Motel on Highway 80.

Tiharihondi, 19, is now charged with with two counts of capital murder.

He remains in custody in Raymond, Mississippi, awaiting extradition back to Harris County.

Crime scene investigators spent nearly two days at a west Houston apartment where Israel Ahimbisibwe, his wife Dorcus and their young son, Israel Ahimbisibwe Jr., were found dead Monday.

Prosecutors: Dwight Brown beat, hacked mother to death in her Grand Boulevard home

Dwight Brown beat his 60-year-old mother to death then hacked up her body with a knife as she attempted to prepare him dinner in her Grand Boulevard home, prosecutors said.

Linda Sanders‘ husband found her dead in a pool of blood in the hallway of their home in the 400 block of East 48th Place about 8:45 a.m. Monday, prosecutors said.

Sanders’ husband had left the home about 5 p.m. Sunday to go work his overnight job, prosecutors said. As he left, Brown arrived to visit his mother.

When the man got to work he called his wife, who said she was making dinner for her son, who would leave after the meal, prosecutors said.

The man tried calling Sanders “numerous” times late Sunday and early Monday, but she never answered the phone, prosecutors said.

When found on Monday, the couple’s 24th anniversary, her face was “battered almost beyond recognition,” prosecutors said.

An autopsy determined Sanders died of multiple blunt and sharp force injuries, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Authorities described the facial injuries as “hacking” with a heavy object, prosecutors said.

When police went to Brown’s apartment in the 6200 block of South Dorchester Avenue they found him lying in bed in his blood-soaked clothes next to a bloody knife, prosecutors said.

Sanders’ house and car keys were found in her son’s coat, and $160 in cash she saved for an anniversary celebration were found in his bloody pants, prosecutors said.

Brown, 40, was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery, police said. He was ordered held without bond will be back in court Feb. 23.

OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City man is facing charges after being arrested for allegedly trying to assault a woman with an unusual weapon.

The victim told officers that she broke up with 55-year-old Dalton Ballard, but he continued to call and harass her.

On Thursday, the victim told police that Ballard came by her home unexpectedly.

The arrest affidavit claims he began yelling obscenities when she opened her door.

“[Victim] told me that [Ballard] pulled out a ‘meat hook’ and began swinging it and trying to hit her,” the arrest affidavit reads.

Patterson Man, 43, Accused Of Biting Off Own Mother’s Ear

PATTERSON (CBS13) – Authorities say a Patterson man is under arrest after he allegedly bit off his mother’s ear.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at a home along the 1400 block of Granite Creek Drive. According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called out due to a family fight at the home.

At the scene, the deputies learned that 43-year-old Marquette Hudson had bitten off his own mother’s ear in the fight.

Deputies believe Hudson was in the process of moving out of his mom’s house when, for some reason, an argument broke out. During the argument was when Hudson allegedly bit off her ear.

Hudson’s mom was taken to the emergency room. Her condition has not been released.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a 23-year-old man was found guilty Friday of killing his pregnant girlfriend in 2013.

Devion Keith Anderson of Compton was found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder (the 18-year-old girlfriend and her 14-week-old fetus). The jury deliberated about an hour.

Anderson is scheduled to be sentenced March 26 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. He faces a maximum sentence of 30 years to life in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Adrian Roxas said deputies received a 911 call from a family member at Anderson’s home two days before Christmas in 2013.

Authorities were told the defendant may have killed and buried his 18-year-old girlfriend, Maria Gonzalez, the prosecutor said.

When deputies arrived, they discovered freshly dug dirt in the backyard. After excavating the area, authorities found the girlfriend’s body, the prosecutor added.

A few hours later, Anderson surrendered at the Compton sheriff’s station.

An autopsy revealed the victim died by strangulation.

CLEVELAND - The brother of Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams was killed overnight in a fatal shooting on Cleveland's east side.

Police say they received a call around 2:50 a.m. about a man shot in the 10600 block of Grantwood Avenue.

When police arrived to the scene, 34-year-old William D. Williams of Cleveland was already dead.

Sources tell newsnet5.com the shooting was a domestic incident.

An arrest warrant was issued for 36-year-old Dana Johnson after the shooting. According to the arrest warrant, Johnson allegedly shot Williams in the head. She was charged with aggravated murder.

CLEVELAND - The suspect in the fatal shooting of Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams' brother appears to have shot herself in Pennsylvania.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, law enforcement officers attempted to make a traffic stop in Brighton Township, Penn. Tuesday morning after spotting a vehicle matching the homicide suspect's description but when they tried to pull Dana Johnson over, she refused to stop.

When she finally stopped, troopers approached her car and she held a gun to her head, firing one shot.

Cops: Alabama Woman, 79, Shot Grand Nephew In Foot During Argument Over Missing $20

The 79-year-old Alabama woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly shooting her grand nephew in the foot during an argument over $20.

Police responded Sunday morning to the Mobile residence that Peterson shares with the 25-year-old victim, who told officers that Peterson fired a single shot into his foot.

Peterson contended that her relative had swiped the money from her.

The elderly pistolero, seen in the above mug shot, was briefly booked into jail before bonding out on the second degree domestic violence charge.

CHICAGO (STMW) – A south suburban woman was ordered held on $750,000 bond after she fatally stabbed a woman during a family party Monday night in Riverdale, police said.

Natassia Pettis, 32, was charged was with first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing of 19-year-old Keianna Paul during a family gathering in the 14100 block of South Dearborn, said Riverdale Deputy Chief Rocky Graziano.

“This young lady was killed because she was dating an older gentleman. He was in his 50s and had recently left his wife,” Graziano said. “Some of his family didn’t like that too much, and there were several skirmishes.”

During one of the skirmishes, Pettis grabbed a knife and fatally stabbed Paul, Graziano said. Pettis is the man’s niece, Graziano said.

BROOKHAVEN, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Police have confirmed that five people were shot in a home in Brookhaven overnight.

It happened at a home on South First Street, just after midnight.

According to Brookhaven Police Chief Bobby Bell, the victims include two adults, 31-year-old Jermaine Sims and 29-year-old Victoria Sims, and three children; ages 14, 9, and 6.

The suspect in the shooting, Jimmy Lyons, is in custody, currently charged with 5 counts of aggravated assault.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis police arrested and charged 29-year-old Jeremiah Wynn for beating his grandmother.

Police say Wynn got into a fight with his family for hiding and stealing his grandmother's kitchen knives.

The 91-year-old woman told police Wynn pushed and punched her in the arm several times.

"He cussed me," Julia Rogers told WMC Action News 5. "He called me everything but a child of God."

Rogers is a mother of 20, and she's a grandmother and great-grandmother of nearly 100.

She takes care of many of those grandchildren during the day, but she ended up bruised when one of her grandchildren attacked her.

"He's dirty. He's like a rattlesnake," Rogers said of Wynn.

When Wynn's mother stepped between her son and mother, Wynn refused to stop. Rogers says he attacked his mother and continued on to get back at her.

Plus, Wynn is a registered sex offender.

"He's so low down and so devious ... baby, he's a dirty black sucker," Rogers said.

Wynn's problems with the law include aggravated assault, burglary of a motor vehicle, trespassing, and a violation of the sex offender registry.

His family says he's burned down their barn, slit their cars tires, and even stolen from them.

Rogers says her grandson has no other place to live and stays with the family when he's in desperate need.

Wynn remains in jail on a $2,500 bond.

His grandmother says if he returns to the house, she plans on finding a new, safe place to live .

Man Allegedly Kills Girlfriend In Front Of Her Children While She’s Behind Wheel In San Jose
April 10, 2015 2:12 PM

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A man in the passenger seat of a car allegedly shot dead his girlfriend while she was behind the wheel in San Jose – and in front of the couple’s baby and the woman’s teenage daughter – according to police and family members.

The man is currently on the loose and the subject of a statewide manhunt.

San Jose Police said officers responded to a call of a person shot and laying in the street on the 1300 block of S. Bascom Ave. just before 10:00 p.m. Tuesday. 33-year-old Kendra Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined Gonzalez was driving a vehicle with 25-year-old Andrew “Drew” Butler in the passenger seat, along with the couple’s baby and two other passengers in the back seat.

Family members told KPIX 5 the baby is the couple’s two-year-old boy. Family members also said two people in the back seat were Gonzalez’ teenage daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend.

Police said Gonzalez and Butler were involved in an argument when Butler shot Gonzalez. After the vehicle was stopped, Butler got out and removed Gonzalez’ body from the driver’s seat, leaving her on the roadway, police said.

Butler then ordered the Gonzalez’ daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend to get out of the car and take the baby with them before driving away, according to police. The car was later found abandoned in Salinas.

Butler remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Police said he may be in the Sacramento area but also has ties to Monterey County cities of Salinas, Marina, Seaside and Monterey.

He is described as African American, 5 feet 5 inches, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, and has a mole near the left eye. He was last seen wearing a navy blue short-sleeve shirt with “Ford” written across the chest, navy blue sweat pants, and possibly black “Reebok” athletic shoes with grey or white trim.

Dallas man arrested in slaying of his mother who was found inside house fire

Dallas police arrested a 21-year-old man Monday who they say fatally shot his mother then called 911 to report a fire at the Southeast Oak Cliff house where her body was found.


Jacolby Hurd was carrying the murder weapon — a Colt 38 revolver — in his backpack when he was arrested last Thursday (April 9) on an unrelated shoplifting charge, police said in an arrest warrant affidavit.

Investigators tested the gun and determined it to be the one that killed Hurd’s mother, Nikkita Roshette Overton, 38, police said.

Hurd had called 911 to report his house was on fire around 11:38 p.m. on March 14 in the 2700 block of Fatima Avenue, police said. Police found Overton’s body inside the residence and an autopsy later showed she died of a gunshot wound.

Police did not indicate a motive in the slaying.

On her Facebook page, Nikkita Hurd called her son, Jacolby, “my king.”

Police: Man jailed for beating girlfriend with fist and metal folding chair

A Salisbury man is being held without bond after being involved in what police say was a domestic incident in which he struck his girlfriend with his fist and a metal folding chair.

According to the report, police were called to investigate a 911 hang up call at 209 E. Bank Street on Thursday morning at around 4:30. When they arrived, they found Tony Douglas Carithers, 49, and his girlfriend. The girlfriend was sitting in a chair holding her arm.

Police determined that when the girlfriend came home, Carithers began yelling at her to leave, then physically attacked her. Police say Carithers struck the woman in the back of her head with his fist, then picked up a metal folding chair and hit her in the side, breaking her arm.

The woman grabbed a knife, and police reported that Carithers had a "small scratch on his index finger."

Police say the woman grabbed the phone to call 911 and just as she made the call, Carithers grabbed the phone and threw it to the ground.

A Fort Myers woman was arrested after deputies say they found her running naked through a neighborhood chasing her boyfriend with a knife.

Police told The News-Press of Fort Myers that 20-year-old Rolchika Washington was arrested after chasing her boyfriend, 26-year-old Guerson Lapimarede, after an argument over money Tuesday morning. After a physical altercation, Washington armed herself with a knife and chased Lapimarede through the Pine Manor neighborhood in Fort Myers.

North Side Man Charged With Stabbing Mother To Death During ‘Domestic Dispute’

(STMW) — A North Side man has been charged with fatally stabbing his mother during a domestic dispute Tuesday afternoon in West Ridge.

Jerome Jackson, 24, was charged with one count of first degree murder in connection with the May 5 stabbing death of his mother, 53-year-old Jerren Jackson, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

About 4:20 p.m., Jerren Jackson was stabbed to death in the 6200 block of North Bell, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived on the same block and was declared dead at the scene.
