"Investigators observed that the rooms were dirty, the floors were filthy and covered with feces, used diapers were scattered about the bathroom, insects were crawling on soiled dishes in the kitchen sink, garbage was piled up and stinking, and the refrigerator contained only a bottle of strawberry soda and three onions," the Sheriff's Office said.

Six Children Living In Feces-Filled Home, Police Say

DANIA BEACH, Fla. -- A Dania Beach woman is under arres
t and her six children are in state care after police say they were found living in filth.

Lupana Joseph (pictured, right) is charged with six counts of child neglect. Police say they went to her apartment at 105 S.W. 5th Court when they received a report of chil
d neglect.

Joseph was reportedly walking down the street with her shoeless children when police arrived. Officers checked the apartment and allegedly found feces on the floor and little food
in t
he refrigerator.

Joseph told officers that the children had been going the bathroom on the floor and she had been too sick to clean it up, police say. Joseph reportedly could not tell investigators who the father of two of her children were.

Joseph's bond was set at $6,000.
