Cops busted a Long Island man  for drunken driving — with two 5-year-old boys in the back seat, police said on Saturday.

Rudit Santos, 50, was driving east on Old Country Road in Westbury around 11:40 p.m. Friday when he failed to signal a left turn, police said.

Cops pulled over the allegedly visibly intoxicated Santos — and spotted his two young passengers, his son and nephew, authorities said.

The kids were released to a relative.

Santos was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law for having children in the car, cops said. He was also busted for endangering the welfare of a child, operation of a vehicle without restraints and failure to signal.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday.

A drunken driver fell asleep at the wheel, snarling traffic at the Holland Tunnel’s exit into New Jersey, police said Sunday.

East Orange, NJ, resident Robert D. Tume-Ponce’s alleged snooze caused the jam at around 2 a.m. Saturday at Grove and 14th streets in Jersey City.

In investigating the cause of the tie-up, Port Authority cop Christopher Hooper found Tume-Ponce, 48, sleeping at the wheel of his 2003 Ford Explorer — with the motor running, the car in gear and an open bottle of wine on the floor of the passenger side, officials said.

Tume-Ponce failed a field sobriety test and blew a blood-alcohol level two times the legal limit, police said.

He was charged with DWI, open alcoholic beverage, and delaying traffic and creating risk of an accident.

Arfhy Santos and William Lopez. DCPI

The alleged thrill-seekers caught on video last weekend running down a cop with their Mercedes-Benz in Times Square were finally busted on Wednesday, according to police.

Arfhy Santos, 20, and William Lopez, 24, were being held at the Midtown South station house after getting arrested around 4 p.m. for the Saturday night incident, officials said.

Charges were still pending for the two men on Wednesday night.

Authorities had been looking to question Santos and Lopez, both of The Bronx, after publicly identifying them earlier in the day.

The NYPD’s Regional Fugitive Task Force was able to track them down using security camera footage — but not the Mercedes.

“They have not found the vehicle yet,” Manhattan Chief of Detectives William Aubry said at a press briefing Wednesday night.

Santos and Lopez were both allegedly inside the Mercedes C63 when it was seen on video cutting up in the middle of Times Square last weekend, according to officials.

Santos was allegedly behind the wheel and Lopez, who owns the vehicle, was in the front seat. A third individual, who is still at-large, was in the backseat — but police say they are treating him as a witness, rather than an accomplice.

Santos and Lopez both have criminal pasts — and investigators believe they are members of the same Bronx car club. Officials would not provide details, though, about the group or how it operates.

“Based on past actions of these two people, they don’t just give up, they don’t just surrender,” Aubry explained. “They try to escape — and they use a vehicle as a weapon to do so. That’s in their history that we looked at. They use whatever means they have to flee that scene.”

Footage of the incident shows smoke coming from the Mercedes’ tires as Santos attempts a burnout near the Army Recruiting Station. It was at this moment that Officer Ian Wallace, 26, approached the car and ordered the driver to pull over, to no avail.

The Benz kept going — and clipped Wallace as it sped away.

“Get that car!” the thrown officer can be heard saying in the video, just moments after being thrown from the hood.

Despite his efforts, the duo managed to make a clean getaway, traveling west on West 42nd Street — and hitting several cars in the process, officials said.

Wallace suffered minor injuries to his right leg and hip, chest, arms and back. He was taken to Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.

“He stood in harms way and attempted to stop that vehicle,” Aubry said, noting how Wallace’s “instincts took over.”

“These are men that drive these cars, and, as you’ve seen on the video, they don’t stop for police officers.”

While countless people hailed the cop for his actions, at least one person felt they were unnecessary.

The man who filmed the now-viral video of the incident blamed the officer for the whole thing on Monday — and actually defended the reckless driver.

“He tried to get around the cop. I was right there,” photographer Kiefer Dixon explained on Instagram Live, insisting that he didn’t know the suspects.

“I’ve seen police come up to cars before — they come up nice and slow pace, not charging at them,” Dixon said. “They give the cars a ticket or tell them to relax. This cop ran out to the street, yelling at the guy and what not.”

Aubry, on the other-hand, thinks what Wallace did was nothing short of heroic.

“He’s a brave officer,” said the official. “It took a lot of courage to try and stop that car.”

Driver Accused of DUI After Running Out of Gas on Bridge, Police Say
Published 5 hours ago

GOETHALS+BRIDGE+DWI+BUST.jpg

Police say a New Jersey man was arrested after they say he had too much to drink, but not enough gas in his car.

Officials say 26-year-old Alvelis Javier-Delrosario of Irvington was busted for driving while intoxicated after his car sputtered out while he was driving across the Goethals Bridge early Monday.

Port Authority police say they arrived at the scene on the east bound side of the bridge that connects Elizabeth, New Jersey, with Staten Island around 12:30 a.m. after Javier-Delrosario’s car had run out of fuel. PAPD officers said Javier-Delrosario was slurring his speech and smelled like alcohol.

He was arrested and charged with DWI and his gray Honda was towed away from the scene.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Javier-Delrosario had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.

Shocking video shows a crazed driver nearly strike several NYPD cops as he spins in circles on a Manhattan street — before leading officers on a chase into the Bronx.

“Turn off the car!” the police can be heard repeatedly yelling at the driver, 27-year-old George Lopez.

Lopez was initially stopped by cops near Dyckman Street and Payson Avenue in Inwood around 4 a.m. after he was spotted driving in the bike lane, police sources told the Post. He then refused to get out of the car or open his window, police said.

The driver is seen in the video sitting in his blue Toyota Sienna stopped in the intersection while several cops surround him and a crowd gathers nearby.

“Get out of the car!” an officer yells.

Seconds later, he revs his engine and drives in circles several times — striking multiple cars and nearly hitting the officers before speeding away, the footage shows.

Lopez fled northbound in the southbound lane of the Henry Hudson Parkway, with police not far behind. The chase continued into the Bronx, where he struck a 2016 Toyota Rav4 head-on while trying to exit onto the Mosholu Parkway., where he came to a stop, police said.

Lopez was arrested just before 5 a.m. and was charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of a crime, reckless driving, driving while impaired by drugs and driving without a license, police said.

He and the driver of the Rav-4 were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital with neck and back injuries. Three officers suffered bruising to their hands and legs and were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s uptown location, where they were treated and released.

Brothers face decades in jail after failed drug test sparks wild police chase
By Kaja Whitehouse
June 5, 2018 | 7:24pm | Updated

Two brothers are facing decades behind bars for leading FBI agents in a dangerous Westchester car chase that had them crashing into law enforcement vehicles, running red lights and driving the wrong way down streets — all to escape punishment for a failed urine test.

Harry Quintana-Cruz, 26, was about to get cuffed in front of his girlfriend’s house in Yonkers for violating his parole tied to the failed drug test when he took off running down the street and called his little brother to pick him up, according to White Plains federal prosecutors.

Alejandro Ortiz-Cruz, 18, drove his brother to a nearby motel where the men sat in the parking lot with the engine turned off in hopes of evading detection, the feds said.

But a Yonkers cop spotted them, triggering a high-speed, dangerous car chase that went on for miles, according to an unsealed complaint.

“Despite being pursued by numerous marked and unmarked cars with their emergency lights and sirens activated,” the brothers refused to slow down, the feds said. They sped through red lights, ignored stop signs and even drove the wrong way on one-way streets.

In order to put a stop to the dangerous chase, two FBI agents parked their unmarked cars at the intersection of McLean Avenue and East Sanford Street, the feds said. But like something in a movie, the brothers sped right through the blockade — colliding with one car and causing damage to the other, the feds said.

Ortiz-Cruz finally took his foot off the gas after he was hit by a Yonkers police car, the feds said. Quintana-Cruz tried to run away on foot before being apprehended, court papers said.

Quintana-Cruz was hit with one charge of assaulting and resisting arrest and one charge of illegal weapons possession after the feds found guns that they said belonged to him.

He faces as much as 30 years if convicted.

Ortiz-Cruz, who allegedly spilled to cops and the FBI after his arrest, was hit with one charge of assaulting and resisting arrest and faces up to 20 years if convicted.

Quintana-Cruz was on parole on drug distribution charges after after he pleaded guilty in White Plains federal court in 2013 and was sentenced to five years in prison.

His lawyer in that case, Sean Maher, did not return a request for comment.

Teen should just get speeding ticket for crash that left 3 dead: lawyer
By Shari Logan and Aaron Feis
June 11, 2018 | 7:57pm

The 15-year-old alleged gangbanger who crashed a speeding SUV — killing three fellow teens, including her brother, and injuring her baby son — should be let off with a measly ticket, her lawyer argued Monday.

“Right now in front of me, all I have as the offense that she committed is, perhaps, a speeding ticket,” James Toner told reporters after Cindy Sanchez appeared in Nassau County Family Court for the first time since the Friday morning smash-up.

“It’s a huge tragedy for the families that lost members of their family,” said Toner. “But it’s youthful indiscretion.”

Sanchez and eight teenage friends from Uniondale swiped the 2005 Chevy Trailblazer belonging to the father of one of the kids, and sped off down the Meadowbrook State Parkway towards Jones Beach late Friday morning.

As the crammed SUV rounded a curve near Exit M9 in Hempstead, the unlicensed Sanchez lost control and rolled the vehicle into a roadside marsh, authorities said.

Several of the kids were thrown from the SUV, and three were killed: Herbert Leo Aviles Maravilla, 16; Marlon Carbajal, 15; and Sanchez’s 13-year-old brother, David.

The other teens — plus Sanchez’s 23-month-old son, Gael, also in the vehicle — escaped with only minor injuries.

Sanchez is charged with manslaughter and other raps.

Prosecutor Julia D’Agostino identified Sanchez as a known member of the violent street gang Vatos Locos.

The fearsome crew — whose name translates to “Crazy Gangsters” in Spanish — counts among their rivals the murderous MS-13 gang that has plagued Long Island for years.

Toner disputed the notion that his young client is gang-affiliated, adding that she has no arrests on her record.

He also claimed that she was the responsible one, taking the wheel because the group’s designated driver — Carbajal, who was killed in the crash — was too trashed to drive.

“There was another designated driver who was intoxicated and she had to assume the role of driver because she did not want to get in the car or have her child driven by an intoxicated driver,” said Toner. “Her intentions were good.”

It was Carbajal’s father, William, who owned the SUV involved in the crash, reported Newsday.

He had initially reported the vehicle stolen to police, not knowing that his son and his friends were out joyriding, the report said.

Also 15-years-old, Carbajal too would have been unlicensed.

Toner claimed that Carbajal was too intoxicated to drive — the only reason Sanchez ended up behind the wheel.

Her left arm in a sling, Sanchez looked on wordlessly as she was ordered by the judge to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at an area hospital.

She will eventually be remanded to the custody of a juvenile detention center ahead of her next court date on July 3.

Toner lobbied for the teen mom to be released to her family, but D’Agostino objected, identifying Sanchez as a known member of the Vatos Locos street gang.

Toner said that Sanchez has suffered enough from the sheer trauma of the deadly crash.

“She’s sad. She’s remorseful. She’s depressed,” he said. “She lost her brother and she lost her friends.”

An unlicensed driver was arrested on Sunday after he hit and killed a Brooklyn pedestrian Saturday night and tried to run away from the crash, police said.

Leonel Ortega-Flores, 35, was trying to park a van on 21st Street near 4th Avenue in Greenwood at about 8 p.m. when he lost control and drove onto the sidewalk, authorities said.

The van smashed into Jose Cardoso, 32, who was walking on the sidewalk, and pinned him up against a building, cops said. Police said he hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

Cardoso was rushed to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and pronounced dead.

Ortega-Flores tried to run away from the crash, but was arrested by police. He faces charges including vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death.

NYPD lieutenant arrested for drunk driving after crash
By Ben Feuerherd

An NYPD lieutenant was busted on a DWI charge in Queens early Wednesday after he crashed into a parked car, police said.

Lt. Sunil Singh, 38, allegedly drove his 2017 Acura sedan into the other car while driving on Rockaway Boulevard near 117th Street at about 2:30 a.m., according to police.

No one was injured in the crash, police said.

Sing, who works in Brooklyn’s 79th Precinct, was charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a breath test, police said.

In 2008, Singh was honored as the “Cop of the Month” for helping bust a gang of thieves who robbed a delivery truck in Canarsie, the Brooklyn Daily reported at the time.

His arrest comes two days after another cop was busted for drunkenly crashing his car in Brooklyn and then punching a good Samaritan who tried to stop him from fleeing the scene.

Officer Tanvir Ahmed, 28, crashed his 2013 Nissan Altima into another vehicle at Avenue P and Ocean Parkway in Midwood — then fled the scene and allegedly socked a man who tried to stop him from running off, police said.

A drunken wrong-way driver slammed into a livery vehicle early Thursday on the Belt Parkway, killing one man and leaving three others hospitalized, police said.

The collision occurred at around 1:55 a.m. when a 50-year-old man driving a 2011 Volkswagen SUV eastbound in the westbound lane near the Verrazano Bridge plowed into a 2018 Honda Accord driven by a 20-year-old man and carrying a 29-year-old woman in the front passenger seat and a man, 27, in the backseat, cops said.

The wreck left both cars completely mangled and the black Uber-affiliated Honda with TLC plates, up over the lane median.

The 27-year-old victim, identified as Gerald Obah of Murray Hill, Manhattan, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The wrong-way driver, identified as Aleh Sheipak, was initially taken to Maimonides Medical Center.

Sheipak, a Brooklyn resident , was later charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault, DWI and DWAI, police said.

Emergency responders also rushed the driver of the Honda to Maimonides Medical Center, while the female passenger in the front seat was taken to NYU Langone Hospital.

The livery driver suffered a leg fracture, according to the Taxi and Limousine Commission.

The three who survived the gruesome collision were in stable condition, police said.

It was not immediately clear whether the livery driver was on the clock at the time of the crash.

An Uber spokeswoman said that the cabbie was not working for Uber at the time of the collision, but said a livery driver can be affiliated with an Uber base and do trips with any other app.

Prosecutors say a 21-year-old man has been arrested in the hit-and-run death of a popular New Jersey high school vice principal who was mowed down during an alleged drag race Saturday night.

Freddy S. Garcia of Piscataway was arrested and charged Thursday with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, causing death while driving with a suspended license, hindering, false reports to law enforcement, the Middlesex County prosecutor says.

He's also been issued a dozen motor vehicular summonses. Attorney information for Garcia wasn't immediately available.

"We are targeting drunk driving, drugged driving, distracted driving and now, illegal street racing," said Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey.

Prosecutors say Garca was among several people drag racing on Stelton Road Saturday night when he allegedly lost control of his 2003 Honda Accord, hitting and killing 49-year-old Tyrone Harrison as he was walking from the Edison train station to a relative's house.

Harrison, a vice principal at New Brunswick High School, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Honda was recovered at the scene after prosecutors say the driver lost control and mowed down Harrison, crashed through a sign and finally came to a stop.

Garcia, who allegedly belonged to the 78 Imports car club believed to have been involved in the drag race, later falsely reported that his car, which wasn't registered or insured, was stolen.

A second man, 21-year-old Sohjah Powell-Warner of Piscataway, was arrested Friday for hindering, accused of altering the 78 Imports Facebook and Instagram pages.

"We've learned an awful lot in this case," said Carey. "I plan on throwing it with my law enforcement partners, and we will be cutting down on illegal street racing."

New Brunswick schools superintendent Dr. Aubrey Johnson told News 4 on Wednesday, "To tell you that we're doing well, I can't say that. Mr. Harrison was a staple here in New Brunswick, for 17 years as a teacher."

Ken Redler, principal at New Brunswick High School, called Harrison "the most peaceful man in the world."

"Mr. Harrison walked in the hallway, always listening," he said.

NYPD officer charged with driving while impaired after crashing car

An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested in Brooklyn early Sunday after he smashed into a parked car while driving the wrong way on a one-way street, police said.

Officer Harry Sepulveda, 31, slammed into the unoccupied car at Wythe Avenue and North 12th Street, in Greenpoint, around 2 a.m., according to authorities.

He was charged with driving while ability impaired and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test, authorities said. The question of whether Sepulveda was drunk or high on drugs is still under investigation, police said.

Police could not say whether anyone was in the car with the officer but added there were no injuries in the crash.

When asked if he had any prior arrests, the NYPD cited Section 50-a of the state Civil Rights Law, which prohibits the release of police officers’ personnel records.

Sepulveda has been on the force for more than 10 years, police said. It was unclear if he would be suspended or otherwise disciplined.

The officer took home $129,636 in total pay in 2017 from the NYPD, including his $85,292 base rate and overtime, according to SeeThroughNY.

A gutsy food delivery guy chased down a drunk off-duty cop who plowed into him in Manhattan on Friday — and sat on her car to stop her from fleeing, according to him and police.

“It could have killed me,” Ramzy Abi-Saab, 24, told The Post. “But my instincts kicked in — I’m a former boxer — and I chased after her.”

Abi-Saab was schlepping grub in the snow across Christopher Street in the West Village at 1 a.m. when Samantha Medina, 30, of Queens slammed into him from behind, according to Abi-Saab and law enforcement.

The impact tossed him over her black Nissan sedan, and injured his back — but she kept driving, he said.

“She tried to do a hit and run!” said Abi-Saab, of Woodside. “I was in a lot of pain. It felt like someone had tackled me.”

Furious, he sprung to his feet. “I was enraged. I chased her down and sat on the hood of her car. I wouldn’t let her leave.”

But Medina, who was clearly hammered, denied she had struck him, he said.

She was drunk as a skunk, trying to pop mints and spray herself with perfume,” said Abi-Saab. “She was so callous. She tried to say she didn’t hit me.”

Medina’s fellow officers soon arrived and found her with bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on her breath, police said.

When they took her to a nearby precinct she refused to blow into the breathalyzer.

She was later suspended without pay, a police spokesman said.

On Friday afternoon, Medina didn’t say a word at her arraignment, where she wore a pink sweatshirt and a stoic facial expression.

She was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol, leaving the scene of an incident and reckless endangerment. She was released on her own recognizance.

Her lawyer, Richard Murray, called Abi-Saab’s claims not credible.

“He may be a person that’s known in the precinct as making a lot of false statements and complaints— that’s what I’ve heard,” Murray said. “I would take it with a grain of salt.”

Meanwhile, Abi-Saab said he was recovering with an injured sciatic nerve at Elmhurst hospital — where he was still seething.

“She’s a cop; think about how many people she’s put away. And here she is driving drunk and doing hit and runs,” he said. “It’s disgusting.”

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that Lazaro Martinez turned himself in to police three days after the fatal hit-and-run in Harrington.

The 48-year-old suspect has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death and failure to report a collision that resulted in death. He was released on $3,100 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

Police say Martinez's vehicle struck Rickey Honeycutt on Dec. 14 as the 53-year-old man tried to cross U.S. 13. Another driver found the body of the pedestrian and notified authorities.

The newspaper says police used security footage to identify the hit-and-run vehicle as a Jeep. Martinez turned himself in on Friday.

Delivery driver crashes e-bike into cop in Harlem
By Ben Feuerherd
December 24, 2018 | 8:35pm

A boozed-up delivery driver rammed his e-bike into an NYPD cop in Harlem Monday morning, police and sources said.

Marcos Rosas, 27, slammed into the on-duty transit officer near St. Nicholas Avenue and West 145th Street at about 6:45 a.m., police sources said.

The cop was rushed to a local hospital with injuries to her head and leg, the sources said.

Officers who responded smelled booze on Rosas’ breath and asked him take a breathalyzer at the scene, authorities said.

He blew .185 — more than double the legal limit, a police source said.

Rosas was also hospitalized after the crash. He was later taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment and drunk driving.

The man’s bike had previously been confiscated by the NYPD, a police source said, adding that it had an NYPD inventory sticker on it.

Confiscated bikes are given back to their owners after violations on them are fixed, the source said.

It was not immediately clear what violations Rosas’ bike had prior to Monday’s crash.

NYPD cop busted for drunk driving in the Bronx
By Amanda Woods
January 5, 2019 | 11:58pm

An NYPD cop who was involved in a 2016 smash-up with a marked State Police car — but who got off easy with the help of the state’s top cop — wound up in more trouble on Saturday morning when he was busted for drunk driving in the Bronx, police said.

Pablo Rijo, 34, was off-duty but boozed-up around 5:30 Saturday morning when he got into an accident in the Eastchester area of the Bronx, cops said.

No details were available on the collision, but cops say no one was injured.

Rijo was charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to take a breath test, cops said.

Back on Jan. 8, 2016, Rijo allegedly struck a marked State Police van, injuring himself and the trooper behind the wheel, The Post reported at the time.

Rijo, as well as the trooper, Daniel Parker, suffered back and neck injuries in the crash, and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The cop was slapped with a ticket for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle after his private 2011 Honda struck the trooper’s van, which had its emergency lights flashing, as Parker made a U-turn while on a traffic-enforcement detail.

But Rijo’s ticket was voided after then-State Police Superintendent *Joseph A. D’Amico — who worked for the NYPD for 27 years — reportedly asked brass at Troop T, which patrols the state thruway, to take another look at the case.

“Upon reviewing the facts of the case, Superintendent D’Amico directed Troop T to review the decision to issue the ticket,” Beau Duffy, a State Police spokesman, said at the time.

Duffy also said D’Amico did not talk about the ticket with anyone at the NYPD and that city cops never asked him to vacate the ticket.

A Long Island dad landed in jail Saturday after drunkenly crashing his car with his 11-year-old son onboard, Suffolk County Police announced.

Zahirul Islam, 54, was driving a 2001 Nissan Altima east on Express Drive South near Old Medford Avenue in Medford shortly after 8 p.m. when he crashed into a 2016 Lexus that was also traveling east, officials said.

The Bellport resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger, cops said. That last charge is a felony also known as Leandra’s Law, after 11-year-old Leandra Rosado, who was killed while riding as a passenger with a drunk driver in a 2009 crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway.

Islam’s wife, who was also in the car, took custody of the boy at the scene.

Islam was arraigned in Suffolk First District Court Sunday and held on $3,000 bond or $1,500 cash.
