Police appeal for sightings after woman sexually violated by intruder in Queenstown home

Police have launched an investigation after a stranger reportedly sexually violated a woman in her Queenstown home.
Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron said the man, who the victim did not know, entered her house while she was alone early this morning.
He entered her bedroom and sexually violated her before being "spooked" by the sound of her phone repeatedly ringing.
He then left the house by climbing out of a bathroom window.
Cameron said it was likely the intruder entered the house through the unlocked front door.
"It's possible that he followed her as she walked along Fernhill Rd between Sainsbury Rd and Mackinnon Tce."
The woman was uninjured, but assaults like this were "of extreme concern, not only for police but the wider community," Cameron said.
Police were appealing for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity around the Mackinnon Tce and Fernhill Rd intersection between 1.30am and 2.45am to get in touch.
The assailant was described as dark-skinned and average height with an athletic build. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and spoke with a "non-Kiwi accent".
