DURHAM, N.C. -- Durham police have charged a man wanted in connection with the assault of an 89-year-old woman.

Maurice Caston was taken into custody Saturday night at the Budget Inn on Holloway Street. Caston was wanted for questioning in the Thursday attack of Marie Miller, who lives in Durham's Northgate Park neighborhood.

Durham police had gone door to door in the neighborhood on Saturday searching for clues in Miller's assault, as well as information about an assault that occurred Tuesday on an 82-year-old woman who lives just a few blocks away from Miller. (niggers are a curse!!)The alleged attacks occurred during the same time of day, police said, but because the attackers' descriptions were vague, it was not immediately clear if the same assailant was behind both incidents.

In Tuesday's assault, the alleged victim was knocked to the ground by a man she found sleeping in her car. Miller fought off the attacker who was inside her home when she returned from the beauty parlor on Thursday.

Maurice Caston admitted in court Tuesday that he robbed and attacked two elderly women in their Durham homes in 2006.

Caston plead guilty to numerous charges stemming from those attacks, including assault and breaking and entering.

Caston was ordered to repay his victims and was sentenced to 61-74 months of prison time, followed by five years of probation. With credit for time served, he will likely be out of prison in a year.

On Aug. 11, 2006, Caston broke into a home in Durham's Northgate Park neighborhood and surprised Marie Miller, 89, when she returned from the beauty parlor, authorities said.

Miller said Caston knocked her down and tried to choke her, but she fought back until he ran away. Caston stole Miller's car and cell phone, said police.

Caston also admitted attacking and robbing another elderly woman in the same neighborhood during the same week.
