Police Believe Derry's Killing Was Drug-Related

PHILADELPHIA -- A man was charged Monday with killing rapper Beanie Sigel's stepfather, police said.
Kevin Green, 22, of Philadelphia, was brought to Philadelphia from Montgomery County Prison and charged with the murder of Samuel Derry III, 46, whose charred and bullet-ridden body was found on a city street last week.
Philadelphia police Cpl. Jim Pauley said Green had been held in Montgomery County on narcotics-related charges and that police believe the killing was drug-related. Pauley declined to comment on what led police to Green.

quittal last month of charges of shooting a man outside a West Philadelphia strip club in July 2003. Sigel still faces a scheduled January assault trial stemming from a January 2003 fight outside a Chinese restaurant.
It could not immediately be determined whether Green had obtained an attorney.
