A man was arrested in Pennsylvania this week for allegedly shooting at an off-duty NYPD cop and his parents in an unprovoked attack in Queens, police officials said Tuesday.
Michael Alexander Troutman, 44, is accused of opening fire at the family’s car outside a 7-Eleven on Queens Boulevard near 43rd Street on May 12 shortly after 11 p.m., cops said.
Officer Ivan Gomez was in the car with his mother when his father, who was heading into the vehicle, noticed a man holding a shotgun in a parked car next to them.
“This guy’s got a rifle!” the cop’s dad screamed out, according to police.
Moments later, Troutman allegedly blasted two shots into the passenger side window, narrowly missing Gomez’s mom, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said Tuesday.
Gomez, meanwhile, was struck in the forearm with a projectile, which Essig said was believed to be a birdshot pellet.

Cops believe the shooting was random.


Police put out bulletins for Troutman’s car and pulled him over Sunday in Franklin, Pennsylvania, where they found a shotgun in his Toyota Sienna, according to authorities.

A search warrant produced two additional rifles, Essig said.


Troutman has prior arrests, including trafficking cocaine charges in 2004, and unauthorized discharge of firearms in 2012, according to cops.


His wife has an order of protection against him and he’s not allowed to own guns, Essig said.


Troutman is waiting for extradition back to New York, Essig said.
