VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -

Volusia County deputies said three women were arrested for child abuse Friday after slapping, kicking and choking a teen girl and then forcing her to take her clothes off so they could beat her with belts.

Deputies said the women were disciplining the girl because she had been suspended from school.

Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Deltona home when an anonymous caller reported seeing the three women chasing the teen outside, officials said.

The 14-year-old girl was transported by ambulance to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial to be treated for multiple lacerations and welts, deputies said.

Deputies said an anonymous person called the Sheriff’s Office shortly after noon, Friday, to report a disturbance in the 500-block of Pemberton Avenue.

Deputies said the caller said three women were chasing and fighting a girl and they had all gone into a nearby house.

When deputies arrived, they found the upset victim crying in the home while wearing just a bra and panties. She had multiple bleeding cuts and several welts.

Deputies also saw 30-year-old Ishiyah McGhee, and 39-year-old Janine McGhee in the home holding belts and breathing heavily.

A third woman, 32-year-old Moriyah McGhee, 32 was also involved in the beating but wasn’t at the scene when deputies arrived, officials said.

HOUSTON – A Houston judge Friday ordered a man to stay away from his son.

Christopher Levy was in court to face a charge of injury to a child. Prosecutors said he got so mad after a parent-teacher conference that he pulled his son out of class at Forest Brook Middle School and beat him.

Students and faculty witnessed the incident as it happened in the cafeteria of the school, which is located at 7525 Tidwell Road in north Houston.

A campus police officer had to pull Levy off his son.

The student was transported to a hospital, school officials said in a statement released Thursday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 3-month-old baby boy is recovering with a broken femur, broken ribs and 15 other bone fractures
and is no longer in his parents' custody.

Clay County investigators say the parents weren't only abusing the boy, but also depriving him of food and water.

Deputies arrested 25-year-old Desean Johnson and 21-year-old Lindsay Voege on charges of aggravated child abuse.

Deputies said when they two took the baby to his pediatrician in January, the doctor immediately noticed bruises on the boy's eyes, back and hands. That doctor ordered the parents to take their child to Wolfson's Children's Hospital, and when they did not police issued a warrant for their arrest for child abuse.

Investigators said the baby may have permanent injuries.

Family members refused to talk at the home Monday.

Kirkland, Wash. —

Tonja Maciolek pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned on second-degree child- assault charges in a King County courtroom on Monday. According to prosecutors Maciolek beat and starved a 2-year-old boy under her foster care over a 10 -month period. When a doctor asked the toddler about a fracture to his left elbow he stated, "Mommy did it."

In August, investigators said Maciolek brought the boy to the ER at Evergreen Hospital. Maciolek said she brought him to the hospital because he complained of head pain and had vomited at dinner.

Doctors there were concerned about intracranial bleeding so they put him in an ambulance and sent him to Seattle Children's Hospital. Staff at Seattle Children's contacted law enforcement, suspecting the child's bruises and his head injury came were from child abuse.

FLINT, MI – A viral Facebook video depicting a child being hit with a belt has resulted in third-degree child abuse charges against three people.

Officials allege the boy's godmother is seen in a video that was posted on Facebook whipping the boy with a belt while her boyfriend filmed the incident.

The video shows the mother slapping the boy in the face before watching the incident on the couch, officials said.

The video had 8,600 shares on Facebook as of Tuesday morning, April 8. Flint police have asked that people not share the video on Facebook.

Stefan Felton, 40, Uteas Taylor, 42, and Demitria Powell, 28, are also charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree child abuse and committing child abuse in front of a minor. They were arraigned on Tuesday morning in front of Flint District Judge Nathaniel C. Perry III.

“The adults in this case clearly went beyond what is a reasonable level of ‘parental
discipline,’” said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton. “What the video in this case reveals is a group of adults whose actions were a criminal assault against a child and that behavior cannot be condoned nor allowed under the law."

The video depicts a boy being slapped by Powell, his mother, then being asked about his grades and behavior. Taylor, the mother's godmother, then starts hitting the boy with a belt while Felton films, police allege.

At one point, a woman officials identified as Powell says the video is going on Facebook and that viewers can call Child Protective Services if they want.

During the more than six-minute video, the boy is hit more than 60 times with a belt over a period of about two minutes. The boy continues to hold the chair as he cries out, at times bending his legs in an apparent attempt to avoid the belt.

The boy was audibly crying as the man taking the video and while Felton and Taylor taunt him. Taylor then makes the boy apologize to his mother for his poor performance in school.

Toward the end, the woman prompts the boy to say "it's not cool to be a gangster." The man taking the video says he spent 10 years in prison and is a "wanted criminal."

The man then asks "Yo' butt hurt?" to which the boy responds in the affirmative. "Then no more of that, huh?"

Police said the boy suffered minor injuries.

At the end of the video, the man shooting the video asks the boy to state his name and age. Another young child also can be seen in the background of the video.

Police said they began investigating the video Friday, April 4, along with the Department of Human Services.

During the arraignment, Powell sat with her arms crossed and answered the judge's questions. She said she was on probation from a previous misdemeanor and was given a $7,500 bond on all three charges.

Taylor and Felton were given $8,500 bond on each count. All three are in custody.

A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty today to beating a 4-year-old boy so severely that the boy sustained permanent brain injuries because the man lost a video game
, prosecutors said.

Terrance Clay, of the 6200 block of South Western Avenue, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the January 2012 attack of the boy, prosecutors said. He pleaded guilty to aggravated battery to a child, a class X felony, according to a press release issued by the Cook County State's Attorney's office.

According to prosecutors, Clay was watching the boy while the boy's mother was working an overnight shift at a local restaurant. On January 7, 2012, Clay was playing the NBA 2K12 video game until 4 a.m., prosecutors said.

As Clay was badly losing in the game he became enraged and pulled the sleeping boy out of his bed and slammed the boy to the ground, prosecutors said.

After that Clay put on the young boy's boxing gloves and began punching the child in the head and abdomen, prosecutors said.

Following the attack, the boy required hospitalization and was diagnosed with several subdural hematomas as well as internal injuries, prosecutors said. The boy lost some brain growth ability and will never reach his full cerebral capacity, prosecutors said.

Police call Muncie woman's abuse of stepdaughter "Cinderella punishment"

MUNCIE -

Police are calling it the "Cinderella punishment," but the story of a Muncie mother and her stepdaughter hardly has a fairy tale ending.

Investigators say Elgenia Bennett whipped the nine-year-old girl so badly, she could barely sit down.

"After she would discipline her, she would make her clean the house. After the second day of beatings, she told her from now on she was going to call her Cinderella,"
said Muncie Police Sgt. Linda Cook.

Bennett allegedly whipped her stepdaughter with a belt, twice. At school afterwards, "she was having problems sitting down."

Classmates told school staff, who called police, who took the girl to the hospital.

Police cannot release the photos in their file. They show widespread purple bruising and welts from a belt.

"Deep bruising to both buttocks, more so to the right, behind the leg, almost down to the knee area," Cook said.

MEMPHIS, TN - (WMC) - Police say a young boy was beaten for his bad grades by his own mother.

The six-year-old ended up at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital after Memphis police say his mother, Latasha Green, badly beat him. According to police, the abuse was discovered at school after the child appeared sluggish and kept vomiting.

Police say the victim told them he was beaten for getting an "N," which means Needs Improvement, on his report card.

Neighbor Tamika Matthews says this is unacceptable.

"I was wondering what was going on ... Cause my sister she suppose to be moving in next door," said Matthews. "But it's sad to even hear that it's got something to do with a child being beat over grades."

The child was taken to Le Bonheur where doctors discovered the boy had cuts, a cracked skull, and damage to his pancreas. Police say he was kicked, punched, and hit in the face.

Green is charged with aggravated child abuse. WMC Action News 5 went to the duplex where she lives, but Green would not come to the door to answer questions.

BEAUMONT — A 27-year-old mother has some explaining to do after authorities say she was captured on video slapping her 8-month-old daughter repeatedly.

In the video, taken by a neighbor, the noise of each slap can be heard loud and clear.

The neighbor who recorded it only wants to be identified as Hakim.

Hakim says he took the video as proof of the force that was being used to discipline the baby girl on Liberty Avenue in Beaumont.

“It was kind of loud for me to hear with my door closed,” explained Hakim. “That’s what made my heart just fall. It was too hard.”

Authorities arrested Tieralyn Angelle at a home in Port Arthur on Thursday after receiving tips.

Police: Mom beat two-year-old son over potty training problems

DALLAS — Police arrested a 26-year-old woman who they say routinely beat her two-year-old son.

The child arrived at Children's Medical Center on April 24 with a broken leg, but police found more injuries and said the abuse was over potty training.

According to court documents, the toddler had "...a left femur fracture, shoulder fracture, injury to his wrist and scars to his arms, face and torso." Doctors at Children’s told police "his pattern of repeated traumatic injuries is indicative of child physical abuse."

Police arrested his mother, Marilyn Lockhart, for injury to a child. She was released on a $25,000 bond.

“Sadly, a large number of our cases involve children who are younger than two years of age," said Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales.

She said that’s because of potty training.

The report says the toddler "defecated in his diaper, removed it, and began smearing his feces on this face and eventually ate it. This made the suspect irate, causing her to beat the child on his leg with a belt.”
