A Jefferson County jury has found a man guilty for his connection to the murder of a 33-year-old woman in 2020.

William Sloss was found guilty by a jury on Friday in connection to the murder of Amanda Berry in January 2020.

The jury recommended a total of 50 years in prison for Sloss, all of which would run consecutively. They also recommended no probation for him either.

Sloss was found guilty of murder, abuse of corpse and being a persistent felony offender in the first degree.

Police found Berry dead in the basement of a house in the Parkland neighborhood on Jan. 31, 2020. Sloss was arrested for his connection to her murder just six days after police found her body. Sloss is set to be sentenced on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m.
