Tyler Morning Telegraph File

Two Tyler women were indicted on second-degree felony charges of arson in the latest session of the Smith County grand jury.
Travesa Daynet Shun Mallard, 31, and Ebanie Nicole Taylor, 36, both of Tyler, were charged with arson stemming from a suspicious car fire on March 9.
The car was parked at a boarded up and abandoned house on the corner of Roy Street and Barnes Street, according to a Tyler Fire Department incident report.

The report said the arson investigation began when a fire investigator found a small glass object that seemed out of place at the scene of the fire.

The next morning, investigators returned to the scene and found the vehicle owner's mother who named Mallard as a possible suspect, according to the report.
The incident report went on to say surveillance cameras in the area showed Mallard beating on the car and removing items from the car.
The video footage shows Mallard placing the items in the middle of the street and setting them on fire, according to the report.
The document said the surveillance cameras captured Taylor getting into Mallard's vehicle and leaving the scene with Mallard as a passenger.
Mallard and Taylor contacted Tyler Police officers minutes after leaving the scene, according to the report.
The document went on to say the cameras recorded the women coming back to the scene and Mallard setting the car on fire.
Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Mallard and Taylor on March 16, according to the incident report.
Mallard was arrested March 16. She was released March 31 after posting a $100,000 bond, according to Smith County Jail records.
Authorities made contact by telephone with Taylor five days after the incident, according to the report.
The document said Taylor admitted to being at the scene and driving Mallard's vehicle when the fire was started.
Taylor agreed to turn herself in to the Fire Marshal's Office, but turned herself into the Smith County Jail on May 10 for unrelated charges, according to the report.
Taylor was later charged with arson, according to jail records.
As of Thursday, jail records indicated Taylor remained in the jail on a $100,000 bond.
In addition to these two indictments, the Smith County grand jury handed up indictments for 22 other people on 34 felony charges in it's latest session, according to the Aug. 16 grand jury agenda received Aug. 29 from the District Attorney's Office.
The charges included 15 state-jail felonies, four third-degree felonies, eight second-degree felonies and nine first-degree felonies.
Others indicted include:
Ravin Deforest Anderson, 20, of Tyler, evading arrest and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
Bryone Keth Arnold, 68, of Tyler, forgery of a financial instrument

An indictment does not indicate guilt, only that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to prosecute a case in court.
