Woman Arrested For Filing False Police Report

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Spartanburg woman on charges of filing a false police report.

Investigators said Geraldine Young, 56, told deputies that she had been robbed at gunpoint by three black males on June 6, in the parking lot of the Bi-Lo supermarket located at 2401 Reidville Road.

Deputies said they reviewed the parking lot surveillance video and determined that Young was not telling the truth.

Young is charged with one count of filing a false police report of a felony crime.

She was arrested
without incident and was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

Investigators said the original report created a concern for personal safety in the community, and they will prosecute anyone who files false reports.
