Atlantic City Drug Raid Leads to 3-Hour Standoff

A drug raid by federal agents in Atlantic City led to a three hour standoff after one of the suspects failed to immediately surrender.
The raid was carried out by Drug Enforcement Agency and FBI agents at a home along the 1900 block of Blaine Avenue around 6 a.m. Thursday, FBI Special Agent Robert Riley tells NBC10. It was carried out as part of a long-term narcotics and money laundering investigation, he said.
Nine of the suspects were quickly taken into custody without incident, but a 10th suspect, Kareem Taylor, barricaded himself inside the home, Riley said.
Riley said Taylor threatened police and said he planned to kill himself.
Agents and members of the Atlantic City Police Department SWAT Team negotiated with Taylor for three hours and then he surrendered peacefully, Riley said. No one was hurt.
All of the suspects will face a federal judge in Atlantic City Thursday afternoon.
