Arrest Made In Spring Garden ATM Robberies
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Philadelphia Police have made an arrest in connection with a series of violent robberies at an ATM along Spring Garden Street.
Wendell Cox, 40, is facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault and related offenses in connection with the attacks last month.
Police said Cox was allegedly armed with a knife when he robbed a woman of $100 and her ATM card near 6th and Spring Garden Streets on January 4.
Several weeks later on January 23, a female was struck in the arm with a baton while withdrawing money from the same ATM. The suspect threatened to slash the victim before fleeing with $200.
Investigators say sur
veillance footage recently released of the January 23 robbery led to a tip the suspect was in the Emergency waiting area at Episcopal Hospital on February 3.
Cox was arrested without incident and taken to Central Detectives.
