PHILADELPHIA -- Police have arrested a man in connection with the possible rape and beating of an 8-year-old girl, NBC 10 reported.
The suspect -- a 23-year-old homeless man named Brian McCutchen --was arrested at 1 p.m Saturday. He allegedly told a friend about the attack, and the friend notified police.
McCutchen was charged with attempted murder, rape and aggravated assault.

Police said the little girl was found just before 5 p.m. Saturday in the women's bathroom of the Independence Branch of the Free Library on South 7th Street.

n. The girl went to the bathroom alone at about 4:30 p.m. Police said that 15 to 20 minutes later, she still had not come out.
"The grandmother got concerned, went to the bathroom, and found the child in one of the stalls," said Philadelphia police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson. "It looked like she was really pushed between the toilet and the wall."
Sources told NBC 10 that she may have been sexually assaulted, strangled, and struck on the head.
The victim remained in critical condition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on Sunday night.
