ST. LOUIS: Woman is arrested in shootings on Era Ave.
04/02/2007
St. Louis police arrested on Sunday an 18-year-old woman suspected of fatally shooting a woman and wounding a man Saturday in the 5700 block of Era Avenue, near West Florissant Avenue, authorities said.
Tayia Beck, 24, was fatally shot in the face about 9 p.m. as she was riding in a car being driven by a 33-year-old man. The man was shot in the neck, police said, and was in critical but stable condition at an undisclosed hospital. A 15-year-old girl in the back seat of the man's car was unhurt.
Police said a car containing at least three people pulled alongside the victims' car. After an exchange of words, several shots were fired from the suspects' car, police said.
Beck lived in the 9600 block of Inagua Drive in Ferguson.
Detectives believe the shooting was over a personal matter. (Like who took the last Kool?) They were looking Sunday for at least one additional suspect. A murder warrant will be sought today against the woman who was arrested Sunday.
