Authorities busted a convoy of seven people as they drove through Montgomery County, hours after police believe they broke into an ATM at a Missouri bank.
Houston police tipped off the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office that several suspects linked to the Kansas City heist at a Chase Bank were driving through Huntsville in three cars, authorities said.
Deputies pulled over one of the vehicles but the other two drivers bolted south on Interstate 45, Steve Squier, of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, said in a statement.
One of the fleeing motorists rolled the vehicle near FM 242, while the other vehicle continued into Harris County. The men in that car got out of the car at Richey Road and Ella Boulevard near Cypress Station and ran. They were eventually apprehended.
Police identified the seven men as Octavious Walters, 19; Jkorean Hadnott, 20; Ladarious Thomas, 26; Deandre Gilliam, 18; Jamarcus Bogany, 18; Montray Robertson, 20; and Clayton Brown, 19. They are being held at the Montgomery County Jail, although it was not immediately known what they would be charged with.
According to Kansas City police, they found the ATM pried open around 5:30 a.m. and that all of the cash boxes were missing. It was not known how much cash had been stolen.
