MCDONOUGH, Ga. — Law enforcement officials are offering a $7,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man wanted in a sexual assault and break-in attempts at a senior living complex.

The McDonough Police Department said a man broke in to a home at the Heritage at McDonough senior living complex on Feb. 5, where he sexually assaulted an elderly woman.

“After the sexual assault, the suspect casually walked out of the apartment,” officers said in a news release.

Police said the man also was caught on surveillance video attempting to break into other homes.

Family members who contacted Channel 2 about the case said the victim is 75 years old and that she was raped. They are concerned because the man has not been caught.

“We are hoping for any help we can get so that she can have some peace of mind,” the victim’s great-niece told Channel 2. “We just pray for piece of mind for her. She has already been through so much.”

The suspect was wearing a Nike fanny pack style bag.

Travel Lamar Farris was arrested Tuesday morning. He faces charges of rape, aggravated assault, sexual battery, battery and false imprisonment.

It was in February when police said a 75-year-old woman was attacked inside her home at the Heritage at McDonough Senior Living complex.

Police said Farris was able to get into one unit, where he sexually assaulted the woman and then “casually walked out of the apartment.”

Officers also believe this might not be the only attack. Police said the suspect also was caught on surveillance video attempting to break into other homes.

Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett said the arrest of Farris was a joint effort between his department, McDonough police, Hampton police, Henry County police, Locust Grove police and the GBI.

MCDONOUGH, Ga. - A McDonough man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison and probation after pleading guilty to raping a 76-year-old woman at a Henry County senior living facility.

Travale Farris, 29, pleaded guilty on Thursday to rape, aggravated sexual battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, burglary, exploitation, intimidation of an elder person, and three counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony.

Officials say the charges stem from Feb. 5, when Farris was seen on a Ring doorbell camera trying to open apartment doors at the Heritage at McDonough Senior Living Center. He was able to get into one of the apartments and raped the 76-year-old woman living there.

Farris was arrested in March after investigators were able to get a match on DNA left at the scene.
