PHILADELPHIA -- It was an emotional day in court for a man accused of killing a 4-year-old girl with spina bifida.
Police said Horace Watters admitted hitting Chardaisah Jackson on Dec. 1 because she wasn't potty trained.
Chardae Jackson, the child's mother, walked away from the courthouse Wednesday speechless and stunned after seeing her former boyfriend, the man she loved, now heading to trial for allegedly beating her daughter to death.

quot;The judge made the right decision and it's the type of beating, in and of itself, that is enough to infer he was trying to kill her," sa
id Michael Barry, the assistant district attorney.
In court Wednesday, the judge and both families wiped away tears as a homicide detective testified that Watters, 24, confessed to hitting the 4-year-old with his bare hands three or four times.
"He's 6 foot 2 inches, the girl was only 3 feet tall, 4-years-old and the size difference, I think, is compelling," Barry said.
During the preliminary hearing, the medical examiner also testified the child, who had a shunt to drain fluid from her brain, died from blunt force trauma. Her face was swollen and bruised on the left side from her eye to her cheek. The examiner said Chardaisah looked as if a boxer had punched her repeatedly.
During testimony, police said Watters also told them he doesn't deserve to be on Earth.
Watters will be back in court in January

the first-degree murder charges and then proceed to trial.
