FAIRFIELD — The three people arrested in connection with the death of an Oakland man in rural Dixon in August had their preliminary hearing date set after making readiness conference appearances Thursday.
Mynard Alfranko Simpson, 34, Nicole Noel Samosa, 38, and Amani Dawnvaloy Jones, 22, are scheduled to return to Department 15, Room 207, of the Fairfield Justice Center at 10 a.m. Oct. 22 before Judge Robert Bowers.
Simpson was arrested on suspicion of murder and is the only one of the three to remain in jail. His bail is set at $750,000. During his readiness hearing, Simpson was also ordered to show just cause on an unknown part of his case at his preliminary hearing, meaning he must justify, explain or prove something in court.

The victim was identified as Danny Trask, 19, of Oakland. His body was found in the agricultural ditch at the side of West Dixon Avenue, just 1,000 feet away from Interstate 80.

A sheriff’s deputy was flagged down at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 10 by a passer-by who reported possibly seeing a man in a ditch. The deputy went to the area and found Trask’s body.
