Antonio Clifford, Byron Johnson, and Patrick Thurman

Three men have been indicted with the murder of 28-year-old Joshua Ryan Sweat of Weirton early Saturday morning in downtown Steubenville.

Antonio Clifford, 19, of Cincinnati is charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.

Byron Johnson, 20, of Steubenville, and 19-year-old Patrick Thurman of Steubenville, are both charged with murder and complicity to aggravated robbery.

Sweat was shot to death last weekend in a parking lot that's just about 100 feet away from the Steubenville Police Station.

Assistant Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Keenan said police have been working fast to get the suspects behind bars.

"They've been working day and night to locate these individuals and to get cooperating witnesses to come in and testify today," said Keenan.

Keenan said police believe Sweat came over from Weirton to the empty parking lot in downtown Steubenville to meet with the three suspects for a drug deal.

But police said the suspects robbed Sweat and things quickly turned deadly.

"These three individuals decided to, instead of selling him drugs, to rob him, and it was a robbery that went bad," said Keenan. "And the victim was shot one time in the back of the head."

Police said Clifford is the one who actually shot and killed the victim.

"He is who we believe to be the triggerman in the shooting," said Keenan. "He is the individual indicted with the death penalty specification."

All three men are behind bars in the Jefferson County Jail, awaiting their arraignment, which is set for August 9.

The father of a shooting victim was detained after he attacked his son's killer in the courtroom Monday. He has since been released by police, according to county officials.

Antonio Clifford, of Cincinnati, admitted in court that he robbed and shot 28-year-old Joshua Sweat, of Weirton, in a parking lot last year in downtown Steubenville.

After the plea, Mike Sweat, the victim's father, leaped and began to choke Clifford. :rollpin:

Amid screams from both the victim's and the killer's families, it took dozens of law enforcement officers to control the crowd. Moments later, everyone was ordered out of the courtroom.

The outburst was in the wake of two other victim impact statements from the victim's mother and sister.

"I truly believe if you are ever set free to live in society, there will be another victim -- another family -- that is shattered," Ginger Sweat, the victim's mother, said to Clifford.

The defense and prosecution came to a plea agreement after deciding that, based on the evidence from the crime, Clifford did not initiate the robbery that took place.

Clifford, who faced the death penalty, was sentenced to 33 years to life in jail after he pleaded to aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.

The aggravated murder charge carried the most weight in the sentence. Clifford received 20 years on that charge.

Assistant Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Keenan previously said Sweat came from Weirton to the empty parking lot in downtown Steubenville to meet with the three suspects for a drug deal.

When they met, police said the suspects robbed Sweat and Clifford shot and killed Sweat. LIVE LIKE A BLACK, DIE LIKE A BLACK.

Clifford is one of three men charged in connection with the crime. Byron Johnson, of Steubenville, is serving a 15-year sentence after pleading guilty to murder.

Patrick Thurman, also of Steubenville, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.

Re: Father Attacks Son's Killer In Courtroom

FINALLY! A White Man who doesn't "Offer forgiveness" or pray for the Nigger killer of his son. Instead, he attacks the Nigger in the courtroom and tries to choke him, as captured on the video.
Naturally, the Niggers fambily get all upset and rush to help the Nigger, they don't give a damn that he's a remorseless murdering POS.
It would've been even better if a lynch mob had grabbed the Nigger as soon as he was found guilty and strung him up in front of the courthouse, or over the victims grave.

I saw this last night on the tellie. If only White men everywhere would strangle the dark demons before their sons and daughters are murdered. Rise up humans, it's time to remove all niggers from our White civization.

PS. Notice how the soulless spook sits in its animal stupor, oblivious to the White (human) avenger.

High drama in an Ohio court

Chaos erupted in an Ohio courtroom after anguished father Michael Sweat lost control at his son's murder trial

In what seemed like a typical Ohio courtroom proceeding, with the key accused, Antonio Clifford, aged 20 seated in the witness box, charged with 1st degree murder for shooting to death 28-year old Joshua Ryan Sweat.

Clifford pleaded guilty and moments later, the courtroom erupted as the father of the victim couldn't contain his grief and anger and lost complete control.

Sweat told the judge he wanted to show Clifford a picture but as he moved forward, he dived across the defence table, swung at the defendent, swearing obscentieis and then started choking the man who had just pleaded guilty to killing his son.

The incident caught everyone off guard. His family members leaped forward to restrain him. It took police officers several minutes to subdue the screaming man once they were able to pry him off the offender. Police were finally able to remove the father from the courtroom. The presiding judge immeditately ordered the defendant and the rest of the victim's family out of the courtroom. The defendant was convicted of aggravated murder, and sentenced to 33-years to life in Clifford to 33-years to life in jail.

Man with ties to ’06 robbery, murder case is sentenced

Jun 27, 2015

STEUBENVILLE – A city man with ties to a 2006 robbery and murder case was sentenced to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center on Friday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Court Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. for a probation violation.

Michael Snyder, 27, of 725 South St. pleaded guilty in 2008 to complicity to aggravated robbery and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

He applied for and was granted judicial release in 2013. He was placed on three years of probation at the time.

City Police on April 4 were called to Club 106 on South Street about a possible fight involving guns.

An officer responding saw four men quickly walking away on South Street. The men took off running and two men entered a fenced-in business lot on Butte Street, police reported.

Snyder and another man were caught inside the fenced-in area, police reported. An officer said a handgun was found nearby.

Snyder pleaded guilty in municipal court to obstructing official business after police couldn’t link him to the gun with DNA or fingerprints.

Bruzzese also extended Snyder’s probation by one year.

In the prior case, Snyder was one of four men to plead guilty in connection with the July 29, 2006, robbery and shooting death of a Weirton man.

Joshua Ryan Sweat, 28, of Weirton came to Steubenville looking to buy drugs, reports showed. He was taken to behind a bar, about a block from the Steubenville Police Department, and met by several men who came from inside the bar. The men decided to rob Sweat, but he initially resisted, reports said.

Police said Sweat was shot once in the back of the head.
He was taken to Trinity Medical Center West and then transported to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he died about 11 hours later.

Antonio Clifford, 29, of Cincinnati pleaded guilty to single counts of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence and was sentenced by Bruzzese to life in prison, without parole eligibility until after 33 years.

Byron T. Johnson, 29,

Patrick Thurman, 29,

Snyder, 27, was arraigned Wednesday morning on a failure to comply charge in connection with a recent police chase in Steubenville.
Earlier this week, he was sentenced to serve the remainder of a prison sentence because he violated probation.

According to Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin, Snyder was convicted on complicity to aggravated robbery charge in 2006. At that time, he was sentenced to 8 years but got out after 5 because of his cooperation with authorities in that investigation.

But now he finds himself in more hot water, indicted on a new charge connected to a police chase.
"He led police officers from Steubenville all through Sunset Boulevard, Braybarton Boulevard -- actually both sides of sunset," Hanlin said. "Eventually ran from the car, left a juvenile in the car alone and wasn't captured until sometime after that."

After leaving the Jefferson County Jail on Wednesday, Snyder will head to prison in Lorain, Ohio to begin serving the balance of his prior prison term.

He'll be brought back to Jefferson County to deal with this new charge at a later date.
